UEL oe EL header for Autocross

Hi, I'm planning in getting a header but I dont know what should be better for autocross... An UEL Header (more torque and low to midle rpms) or an EL Header (more peak power and high top rpms)...

never Autox before but I would imagine being in 1st and 2nd gear a lot and all over the place in the rpm range. I would go with UEL but definitely would like to know what someone with Autox experience suggests.

EL usually produces better torque gains in any point of the rev range. HKS, JDL, PTuning and Nameless are the competitive headers.

Have you autcrossed before? Money would be better spent on tires, wheels, suspension tweaks. More power helps, but not as much as suspension.

The only place where the UEL makes more torque is at very low RPM, but the reality is either one will work.

The top few guys running STX at Nationals are using different types from different manufacturers... The header isn't going to make or break you winning or losing.

I agree, header+tune last, everything else will help more until you finish them!

That said I a supremely excited for my UEL JDL header, catted overpipe and front pipe for next year...

Non. Either will bump u into a class you won't have much fun in or close to being competitive in. Stay as stock as possible for your first few times. Than tires camber suspension, should be able to do the above while staying in the c stock or maybe c street class

EL.

You have no business being in that low an RPM range at AutoX.

Seems to me that one would have a much better shot at staying within the power band on a road course or the street, more so than an autoX course. On most local events I've been to, it's pretty much 1st to 2nd, then stay in second. There are plenty of times when I'd rather be a gear down, but shifting would cost more time that just staying in 2nd. This car can really use the mid-range torque. I doubt that having either a EL or UEL is going to make or break a driver's competitiveness in autocross. If I was building a dedicated road course car, I'd get an EL header.

I might be wrong about all that.

I don't know what the flat-foot shifting is like with Ecutek, but the time down shifting then up shifting again, for me anyway, I might as well have just stayed in 2nd.

I have a JDL UEL.

Rarely even would you need to go back to first. As far as flat shifting, I wouldn't bother unless the wheel is dead straight as you will usually be shifting while setting up or entering a turn.
