EDIT. After reading OP's posts I am guessing s/he would fall into the "I doubt most people could notice the difference" group even though I think most people could. OP is an exception. For me the difference was significant. I was sceptical but became a convert. Quote:

Probably means he has more grip than needed at his current skill/comfort level.
OP, what exactly are you trying to improve? Just throwing parts at it without knowing what you're trying to address is a bad plan.

don't lie, you've done absolutely zero searching....but given your requirements, you need neither the swaybar or a strutbar. So save your money and continue on enjoying your car. As the first step in upgrading your car is understanding what specific problem in handling it is that you can address. So until you can explain what issues you're having while operating the vehicle, even thinking about "upgrading" is a futile effort.

so i have both on my car. first i did the tower brace- JDM password. i noticed a little more rigidity to the front end but not much and it just was a nice little perk, i did it mostly for astetics...the car already has a strut bar in the engine bay. then i did front and rear sway bars at the same time, Perrin ones. i forget the size i think like 18mm front and rear. AND HOLY SH1T! the car is was more ridgid and the body roll into the turns went way down. it didnt feel like i was driving a skateboard anymore when i went hard into the turns. i do have nitto movitos (tires) on my car but stock size. i say if you want to spend 400 bucks and make your car feel way better get some sway bars but not until you get better tires cuz even in the motivos i can break traction in tight turns..only when i accelerate through the turn though.
hope that helps. |

As for everyone else, thank you for your inputs and information. It sounds like it's a good upgrade for more intensive driving, but I don't think I'll be experiencing much of this with my 30-40 minutes of driving per day. Last edited by dtrop; 09-14-2014 at 05:45 PM. Reason: Add |

okay, tell me then, what sort of research did you perform prior to making your post, which demonstrated that you don't know the difference between a sway bar and a strut bar, let alone the implications of modifying either. I mean, if you did even a little research... you would have known that basic prerequisite, no? which is what really boils my kettle... why can't people just come out and say that "hey, I don't know anything about this subject matter, can someone please explain to me what these two things are, and should I purchase them for my daily driver?" would have drawn a much different reaction from everyone.

Save your money
Aftermarket sway bars on DD duty are about as useful as relying on a catback to make HP gains If your car was a heavy FWD pig, with a poor weight balance, then yes, with the twins, no Sent from my OnePlus One |

I searched and read threads on ft86 about sway bars.but there isn't as much on strut. Physically, I got the two placements mixed up and the parts as well. Many people have been helpful in this thread. You on the other hand, have been a pretentious prick. I already decided that I won't be upgrading to this component given my current driving habits. Again, previously stated before your unnecessary rant. Please leave if you are going to continue to be an asshole, I'm not in the mood for your remarks. You are being completely out of line and most members don't welcome your attitude here on ft86club. Last edited by dtrop; 09-14-2014 at 07:45 PM. Reason: Add |

No, I disagree. He is not pretentious. 7thgear says it like he sees it. He may come across as arrogant and condescending but not pretentious.
Given his amount of knowledge he also worth reading when you ask the right questions.

I clearly stated I was a complete noob and I clearly stated that I was seeking guidence. I couldn't have made those statements any more obvious. Anyways, thanks for the links. I had already read through a few of them before. It seems that it's a toss up between people who can feel a difference and those who don't. I mean, for the seemingly inexpensive price for a car component, it's certainly an item that can be purchased, tested, and if the results aren't satisfactory, can be easily resold.
