Best product for removing adhesive?
Hey guys, I know this topic has been covered a lot on here, but I was wondering what the best product would be for removing a lot of tape residue/adhesive on my paint. Recently got my BRZ and upon delivery the tow truck driver decided it was a good idea to cover the windows with plastic and duct tape! Can you believe this guy?! Anyway, now there's a lot of this crud on both sides of my car and it looks like I'm gonna be using large quantities of remover on this thing. Do you guys have any suggestions? Looking for the least harmful/ most effective product. p.s. finger rolling didn't work lol.

Options include:
Quick detailer such as ONR at proper dilution or glass cleaner All-Purpose Cleaner like Meg's D101 A citrus cleaner such as Goo-Gone (use sparingly) Clay Bar Glass is pretty resistant to scratches but it's not invincible. Take it easy and be smart. Ensure to proper clean the area before and after. |

Duct tape could be really bad for the paint, hopefully it didn't get on that.
After AutoX I had adhesive left on from the masking tape numbers. Turtle wax adhesive remover worked really well. Just make sure you bring some quick detailer and fresh microfiber or some car soap and water to wash it off afterwards, because the adhesive remover leaves a bit of residue. |

Try vegetable oil FIRST.
It works on some adhesives, is cheap, easy to clean up, and wont hurt the paint. If that does not work, try the citrus based cleaners next. 3M makes a spray avail. at your FLAPS, but it is expensive. |

Thanks for the input guys. Right now I'm leaning toward the Claybar or 3M Adhesive remover method. I just don't feel comfortable using goo-gone or turtle wax adhesive remover after reading so many mixed reviews on them. As far as Claybar and 3M go, what would be the better of the two for my situation? |

Mildest to strongest (all paint safe though):
-Optimum Power Clean or other strong APC (all purpose cleaner) -Isopropyl (or solution of it) -Paint thinner mineral spirits (not acetone nor lacquer thinner, those are completely different and will harm paint) -Compound All of the above are regularly used by detailers, body shops and are paint safe.

If its just on glass, you can use Citrus Degreaser. If you get any on your window's rubber seals, clean it off with water right after (it's water soluble, but not great on rubber). Not sure how safe it is on your car's paint. Spray it on your cloth/pad before using it on your glass.
For normal use, it works great for cleaning wheels too. |

I use Bug Off by Turtle Wax. It's indicated for bug, tar, and sap but it removes the adhesive from dealer stick ons very well without marring the finish.

SOME adhesives will wipe right off with vegetable oil.
That is why I suggested trying it first. It costs nothing, cant hurt the paint or the rubber, and the worst thing that happens is that you make a clean spot. |

When push comes to shove use nail polish remover or straight acetone. I know this isn't good for your paint, neither is bird crap but you have never seen it strip your paint off and it takes down anything!!! Even those clear bra things. It has worked for me when nothing else comes through.
