I get ask the color of my car often. The craziest thing I find is people will be looking at my car and ask me what color is that? I have never had that happen before with any other vechile I have driven. I always say Ultramarine and they shake their heads like they know the shade. My car is the actual shade of blue Ultramarine. So these cars have the right color name. Just for fun next time someone is looking at my car ask me what color it is, I will say blue. I want to see what thier reaction will be.

Ultramarine - is a deep blue color... The name comes from the Latin ultramarinus, literally "beyond the sea"... Ultramarine was the finest and most expensive blue used by Renaissance painters... http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultramarine

Ya it doesn't really fit with the other colours exotic names. Would have guessed "deep sea" or "cosmic" blue or along those lines. By the time they got there the marketing team must of just said " shit, end of day let's go with Ultramarine" .

Yeah, I drive an Asphalt FR-S... honestly, all the color are excellent on this car...I'd be happy with any (though WRB would have been my #1 choice if it was available for an FR-S...)

The asphalt at sunrise or sunset with a few clouds in the sky. I swear it reflects every wavelength of visible light. They're all beautiful, but I have a soft spot in my heart for the asphalt. Wife and I are considering buying another one to dedicate to the track, and if we do it will be asphalt too.

Rarest normal production are Hot Lava as it is only FRS and WRB as it is only BRZ (although it would not seem that rare on here).

Then of course you have your special edition colours that are way rarer then normal production (See R.1 yellow as proof)
The ONLY Ultramarine/GBS BRZ's are 2013, after that they stopped producing them, so in that sense they are the most unique color.

If I had gone the BRZ route it was the colour I wanted. There are still a couple available not far from me.

I refer to my Fr-S on the forum as "Asphalt Fr-S" because it is an identifier for this forum. It denotes the difference between a Fr-S, GT86, & BRZ. Additionally, it serves as an identifier for those who are newer to the community and that feeling of "Mine" we've all shared in.

When the AZ guys get together, we note if it's a 10-series or monogram when asked because they are "Premium" models compared to the "base" model, but usually only if someone asks about the difference, and we only mention the color when one seems to be in vast majority over the others. "Damn, we have a lot of asphalt here tonight".

We also tend to let each other drive one another's cars on a whim. "Hey, did you notice a difference when you installed the intake? I am still stock" -- "Oh, yea, i guess. Here see what you think before you buy..." This is largely because we are a fairly small but really active community. So we know we each other and understand the level of respect for the other car. This is how I've gotten to experience super charger, turbo, twin sc, twin turbo, stock, modified NA, ect.

Works out nicely when you're looking to make big decisions.
