I'm in California. Mostly driven on NorCal tracks (grew up up north) and now in SoCal.

Care to give your stories, opinions and summary of your experiences with both of your cars (Cayman and NA BRZ), and also against that JR BRZ you mentioned?

How would you compare those three? for track use of course (reliability, operating cost, performance) I don't care about the comfort features, rattles etc..

Yes, I just wanted to see how the real R comps feel so wanted to try the Hankook Z214s this time (C51 compound) but NT01s were just great.. the thing is I never had a chance to compare the new NT01s to the new Z214s .. my NT01s were definitely worn and heat cycled out so comparing them to a brand new (heat cycling treaded) Z214s would be unfair.. but by switching to a new tires and ST43s I was able to improve my times by a whopping 4 seconds in a 2 minute track

Cayman S vs NA BRZ: Porsche would be more reliable. Costs: Other than the tires, if you have control arms and springs on the Cayman for adding camber and your BRZ has full track mods, that's a wash... but, I track the NA BRZ. I'm more comfortable pushing the BRZ.

However, to be fair, my Cayman S Sport is a special edition and if it were a normal Cayman S, I would be much more willing to track it.

Cayman S' with bone stock engine and transmission runs with the fastest GTS class cars. They are worth every penny of their $80K sticker. It is the superior car in every way, but are you willing to crash something that expensive? That's really the best question when choosing a track/DD car.

I completely agree with your comments but I have to say I wouldn't be able to pay for a brand new Cayman S it would be a used one for sure and I would definitely get the track day insurance..

I noticed that even after adding the FI, Cayman S still faster and be can driven effortlessly I think..

Take a look at the below video, it's a new generation bone stock Cayman S

and then my video below even I tried hard and it's yielded better exit speeds than the Cayman in this video but the Cayman just flies and closes that gap.. maybe it's because of the aerodynamics or the delivery of the power, I don't know.. at the end of the main straightaway he is almost 20 mph faster than my Supercharged BRZ :/

Agreed. I meant a used one, that why I listed the price of $35-50K. The new ones are seriously fast. It also most likely had a PDK transmission. The suspension in a Cayman is much more advanced than anything that goes into a BRZ. As you noticed, it is less work to drive them fast.

Exactly the car has PDK for sure,

I think the only issue with having a Cayman is the upkeep costs, and the engine failure would be really expensive so having a Cayman with an extended warranty makes a lot of sense..I've never owned a Porsche because of the reasons I listed above but maybe some day

Upkeep is just oil changes every year... Or two.

Dang that Cayman is fast! That's the newer 2014 though...no way in hell you can get that for <$60k used. the 2014 is much improved over the 1st gen and 1.5 gen.

The 06-'13 are a bit more affordable (the 06-08 are the cheapest..but also have the most problems)

And holy moly....that Evo is crazy fast! O.O

I wouldn't go as far to say the Cayman is more reliable. Not even close. It depends what year too. I've heard of Cayman engines blowing up, spinning rods and messing up their sleeves and faulty loose piston rings (from only mild track driving and even on the street), 1000x more than a BRZ/FRS has lol.

The only Cayman S you can buy for around $30-40k would be an old, high mileage, '06-'08 model...which are the most problematic and very prone to major engine failures at the track due to oil starvation (lack of oil pump power and lateral load makes the oil stuck in the heads) and spun rods, di and rear/front seal problems, engine sucking up and burning oil from intake, and so on.

'09-'13 have resolved most of these issues, but these will run at least $45k to $60k used. The early '09 still had problems iirc.

'14...forget about it lol. Those are $65-75k+ used.

oh yes, that Evo is a TT2 car, those TT2 guys were discussing the winter blends and ethanol between the sessions at that last NASA event, and I was the only street legal guy in that group with pump gas
