OK sure @EastBayCanuck @Xerious @finch1750
we'll make it 11:00 AM meet time. It will be a more laid back drive - no racing no tailgating please. there may be many cyclists out there at that time. and gravel. and wildlife. etc.

Meet up point:
McDonald's, 4528 Las Positas Rd, Livermore, CA 94550, United States
We will start from Livermore, meet at 11AM at McDonald's parking lot. Roll out by 11:20AM.

The route will take us down Mines Rd and to the Junction.
We will have lunch at The Junction Bar & Grill (http://thejunctionbarandgrill.com/) then after that we'll figure out where to drive next, or go our separate ways.

bring walkie talkies if you have them!

That works for me. I need to replace my tires so need to drive carefully.

That was fun glad I went, sorry I had a brain fart and thought Ed was leaving earlier for some reason and that's why I missed the exit off of 5. I still have Finch's walkie talkie as well.

yeah sorry we didn't get to say our proper goodbyes. Ed called me and we decided to do the drive up Tesla Rd instead of taking the freeway back to Livermore. if we had known you had the radio still we would have said something over the radio. We'll probably reconvene again at the next Dublin meet.

fun drive everyone, I hope my video footage turned out well. although I brought my camera I forgot to take any group photos...

Oh and sorry I forgot to give everyone who joined us, their 86DRIVE star punches. Hit me up next time you see me for them.

Just saw this.... be safe, everyone..

California’s new “Three Feet for Safety Act” is about to take effect.

Who knows what will happen at flash point on the Bay Area’s two-laners in the foothills, so popular with road bikers, fast cars and motorcycles.

The law Gov. Jerry Brown signed a year ago requires cars to keep at least 3 feet from cyclists when passing.

...

So much time has passed since the law was signed a year ago, after five vetoes in previous years, that some drivers might have forgotten about it, especially a key component. It becomes law Sept. 16.

The version that will take effect does not allow drivers to cross a double-yellow line to pass. If they can’t abide by the new 3-foot rule, they must slow to "a safe and reasonable speed" when passing.

According to the vehicle code on the DMV website there's nothing in there about double yellow lines, unless this is old information or I'm blind:

You are right: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d11/vc21460.htm

I'm curious why sfgate even mentioned it in the first place since it's illegal to do so before the new law.

I just had a funny idea for a picture... a caravan of twins rolling behind a single bicyclist going up a twisting road.

Try a group of them going down la honda. Up redwood or was that skyline. Maybe both. Mines too. It's not that one cyclist can hold up a caravan, it's a group of them. Luckily every one was patient (cars and bicyclists) and everyone came out unscathed. La Honda was most memorable where the bikers were drafting behind our cars. I've never been so scared to press on the brake so I just used ebrake to slow behind the bikers in front.

In context I know you meant "engine" brake but I read it as "emergency" brake (ie hand brake), which sounds so much more awesome
