The Japanese automaker has shared a video showcasing its latest sports car which features the RC F’s Chief Engineer, Yukihiko Yaguchi, describing the development of the car.

The RC F is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 with at least 450 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. In an age where several automakers are turning to smaller powerplants with less cylinders and forced induction, Lexus has decided to stick with good ‘ol V8 power.

In the video, Yaguchi goes into great detail on how the RC F wasn’t built for just incredible speed, but for maximum driving enjoyment. It notes that testing was conducted on the Nurburgring not to achieve lap records, but to make sure the RC F was fun and enjoyable to drive even in the harshest of conditions.

Have to say, this is a real stunner — however unlikely it is that Lexus would ever release such a vehicle, I think it should be considered after seeing this rendering.

Lexus has released a new promotional video that highlights the development of the RC F Coupe.

In the video, Vehicle Dynamics Engineer Akihiro Osaka says testing began at the Fuji International Speedway before moving to the Nürburgring because it's "the toughest circuit in the world, providing the opportunity to check a broad range of factors." Osaka goes on to say "The vehicle performed well during testing at the Nürburgring which gave us a lot of confidence in its performance."

Since very few owners will actually drive the model on the green hell, engineers also conducted extensive tests in various markets and conditions to ensure the car's performance could be "properly enjoyed."

As a refresher, the RC F Coupe has an all-new 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops more than 450 bhp (335 kW) and 383 lb-ft (518 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed Sports Direct Shift transmission which should enable the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 4.6 seconds and hit an estimated top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

The RC will fill a long-standing gap in the Lexus lineup. “When we looked at the freshly carved model of this car, we were immensely excited because we were doing what hadn’t been done before: making a coupe,” recalls Junichi Furuyama, previously chief engineer of the RC. “To strengthen the emotional value of the brand and to appeal to younger generations, introducing a coupe to the range was a must for Lexus.”

Purposefully pared back to put focus on performance, the RC will provide one of the purest and most exhilarating Lexus driving experiences. It will be as luxurious as it is high performing, says Furuyama, and will “deliver superior drivability at a higher speed or in a higher g-force environment.”

A short video clip of the Lexus RC F revving its 5.0L V8 engine has been posted on Youtube.

I can hear a similarity to the IS F, but there’s also some LFA to the sound — tighter, more focused. Makes sense, given that Yamaha helped tune the RC F exhaust note. Engineering amazing!

The RC F SPORT exterior design hits all the right notes for me — there’s something about the way it balances between the standard RC & the wild RC F that’s really appealing.

(Atomic Silver has been a great addition to the Lexus color palette — it looks good on every model.)

Atomic silver is such an amazing color. It really shows off the gorgeous metalwork on the new Lexus. The IS350 F sport is coming in Atomic Silver this year.

I think this car looks really good in person. I'm sure those that do not like it may have a change of heart after seeing one up close.

RC 350 will start at $42,790, which is cheaper than the C350 Coupe and the 435i.

The RC F (with 467 hp and a 4.4 0-60 time) will start at $62,400.


Not bad, IMO. The RC 350 will also be offered in AWD, which I think is awesome.

I really like the interior and exterior of the new IS and RC cars but that weight...
