What is the highest octane you get in the states?
The lowest in the UK is 95, the performace stuff is generally 99 and I have seen 101 in the past at several stations.

North America and I believe Australia use a different rating system then the rest of the world so our numbers will be several points lower then yours. I have no doubt that somebody will correct me if I am wrong but I believe your 99 is probably the same as our 87 and so on up the list.

I know for a fact that the US 93 is approximately 98 in England and elsewhere.

Wow knew it was different but thought it was a bigger gap. So that means that their "regular" is 90?

I don't know for sure. If you go to the wikipedia page (HERE) there is a table that lays it out for you.

So 87 here would be 91-92 there, 92-93 here would be 97 there, and 94 would be around 99-100 there, depending on how you read the table.

Am curious but will have to check it out later. At work and Wikipedia is blocked but apparently GT86 forums are OK (who knows what goes through the minds of IT guys).

Well thanks to this post I'm on my first 100 km on PC94

so far, STFT and LTFT +/- 1....very good compared to Shell/Costco +/- 5

Timing advance under load stayed +5 or higher compared to previous Shell/Costco -5

All logged through Torque Pro, too cheap ATM to get the OFT

98ron = 93 octane
95ron = 91 octane

It is just different way to measure the octane rating. We use AKI in North America while the rest of the world use RON.

The car has 12.5:1 (i think) compression. Run premium.

You're new (to this forum, at least) so I will cut you some slack--but way to dig up a thread that that is almost 6 months old, and likely didn't read it as well.

However the question is would you run it on regular if gas price goes sky high lol.
The boxer configuration has nothing to do with it. 12.5:1 compression has something to do with it. I'd run 87 octane if the only other choice was walking, but not otherwise. Yes, the knock sensors will PROBABLY compensate for it, but it will really dog the performance.

Seems to be a lot of people answering 3 year old questions like they were asked today lately. Even with 8 pages following with the answers.
