However, what I like even more is the fact that there’s a little pocket underneath the AC controls, with just enough room for an iPhone and/or iPod. Even better than that is the small rubber lip that sits at the edge of the pocket, which prevents your iPhone from sliding out onto the floor in the middle of a spirited driving session. AWESOME."

Good!
Did anyone else notice the iPhone is searching for a signal while in the pocket? There better be reception in there! haha

Haha! Yeah they were up in the mountains...so...

But the Iphone looks pimp in that cubby. I really hope there is a USB port inside the cubby.

A glowing review from a (former) hater. Considering how strongly he feels about the original AE86, it's impressive how much he likes this car. If the FT can sway "Mr. 86" it must be doing SOMETHING right.

I say if you even remotely like the "OLD" AE86, you will like the FR-S\BRZ.

I agree but when would you need to plug it in? It has bluetooth streaming audio and phone functions supposedly. The only time you would need it is for charging or hooking up an older MP3 player.

I just hope it has enough room for my larger Android phone.

I have a older iPod that I would just hook up and leave there for in car use. Not a big deal really since I'm sure I can wire around it.

You will also have to plug it in to use the Aha Radio features on the head unit.

Same. One of the main things I like is the fact that it doesn't have steering wheel controls. I think this car is like a tribute to those in my generation who loved Japanese sports cars from the 80's and 90's. Kind of like how Ford and GM have been making muscle cars based on those from the 60's.

I unno, but I didn't read the actual article until I saw your post. Was bewildered to myself thinking "really? Obviously a Celica variant from the A60 platform, where's he getting this transmission talk from?"

I haven't heard that before, so I can only assume that he is making it up...

Nice to read a review from a serious AE86 owner, and not just a shmoe journalist!

(no offense to shmoe journalists, I just have no idea what your automotive backgrounds are)
