Gap with STX seems to imply their might be a talent disparity too. Also, Lincoln is a different animal, and plenty of people don't live up to their own potential. AKA a ton of variables which doesn't help. |

I don't believe it makes good power up there. The point is just to provide gearing so you're not stalled at a limiter

I was pretty happy Tuesday ending the day in 25th. Ran a run that I was happy with on my 2nd run and overdid it on the 3rd run but I was okay with that.
Left Wednesday feeling pretty discouraged overall. Dropped from 25th to 35th. First run was my best run. Thought both my 2nd and 3rd run were better but both showed slower times. Over 5.5 seconds between me and the guy in first?! That's like the difference between me and a first timer and I have been autocrossing for 9 years. Definitely leaves me discouraged and wondering what I am doing wrong. Oh well, all I can do is try again next year. Which way are you implying the disparity is? Gap between STX and CS on the East course was 1.1 seconds. Doesn't seem like as much as I would expect given the different prep levels.

I think the SCCA wants a home for the twins in some kind of stock class because: it's popular, available and affordable, and it's good out of the box.
I don't see much room in the faster classes to bump up the Z or RX8. These two seem to want to stay in the same class. So, if they can't move up, do the twins move down? If so, ES makes sense. BUT, there are a lot of NB drivers out there that don't want to lose their class. The same thing happened to the NA owners. The miata deserves a class as well. ES has always been its home. Hopefully, the NB and twin times are comparable enough that we get bumped into ES next year where both the NB and twin are competitive. Once final results come out, I'm going to write a letter and propose it. I'm don't want to be I-classing, but the twins are outgunned by the RX8 and Z. |

today's a windy day, I think track conditions were a bit more favorable the last two days. But yes, I won't mind a move to ES

I don't think any classing changes will be made for next year really. One thing they do look at is who is driving in the class, and the reality is the guys driving twins in STX have tons of experience, tons of nationals experience, and lots of national trophies. In CS, not so much.
You guys out there are way better than me, but when they make classing decisions they do ask the question, "If you put Fenter in a BRZ with pimp shocks, how well would he do?" That's the bar for better or worse. I wouldn't mind seeing the 370Z move though. Jason Rhoades is a great driver but he hopped into a car he first auto crossed like 2 weeks ago, by his own admission drove very poorly at the event, and came in 5th. |

They aren't going anywhere in regards to ST classing IMHO. The have kind of taken over with most of the BMW and RX-8 guys bailing for whatever reasons. However, the best RX-8 driver and last year's national champ wasn't at nationals this year.
Looks like ES is mostly through their 2nd runs. Eric Peterson in the MR-S is out in front by a decent margin and would have put quite a bit of time on the twins as well. |

gotta look at the west times EDIT: it looks like if the twins were mixed in with the ES crew the times woulda been very closely matched. (considering Sean's performance and his complaints with the tires) these woulda been the top 11 people if twins were in ES 61.116 eric mr2 61.55 ricardo twin 61.563 sean twin 61.7 robert miata 61.815 Michael miata 62.073 john twin 62.195 adam mr2 62.303 steven twin 62.6 randy twin 62.774 sean miata 62.87 Daniel miata
