Hmm, interesting design. I like how it incorporates the snorkel.

Fair enough that real data are needed before assuming any intake that retains the resonator will be better.

FWIW here is the Mishimoto thread that includes a good amount of data (their own!) regarding their intake design. An interesting thread nonetheless, and it would seem that if the resonator did not maintain an advantage the temptation would be to eliminate it for a cleaner look.

Funny thing is this post reminds of this thread where they never actually posted anything legit about their part...

The product will speak for itself as we are very happy with this intake and it's results thus far.

What is the downside to the material choice? It's an alternative to the standard, aluminum-style offerings.

As far as the price vs. gain, we've seen as much as an 8whp increase over the factory intake which puts the gains around 4-6% in relation to the baselines we've seen in our testing.

The sharp leading edge is actually placed right up against the backside of the impact bar which does not place the edge right in the path of airflow but allows the mouth of the snorkel to utilize the air-pocket that is in front of the radiator. The concept is similar to that of the old muscle cars and 'cowl induction' systems.

Instructions?
The system utilize air flow straighteners in the MAF coupler. We will have close-up shots of that posted very shortly.

Instructions will be available shortly once production pieces become available as well.

We're working with various shops and distributors to source a completely stock vehicle to run the stock comparison remotely that way the readings and plots are completely third party.

Our results as well as the further pictures will be up soon.

Keep the comments and questions coming!

I am new to the forums here, just bought my frs a few months back (whiteout monogram 6spd) Just wanted to put up my initial thoughts and experience with the new skunk2 powerbox intake. I was fortunate to work with Skunk2 on testing the intake on my car and I am impressed with the form and fit of it. Throttle response is defienently improved as well as overall driveability and power. As with any intake these are not huge gains but they were noticeable. Overall I'd say this ones a winner. One of the best designs I've seen so far, being a tech for Toyota I see these cars all the time coming in with modifications. Hope this is useful to anyone who was interested.

Are you planning on dynoing it? Are you tuned? If so have you loged your AFRs since installing the intake?

Forget putting one? The Skunk2 Oil Cooler kit will mount up just fine!

If you've already got plans or an oil cooler in mind that ISN'T the complete Skunk2 kit, you can purchase the Sandwich Plate Adapter individually to allow for any custom setup you desire.

Does your oil cooler kit work with the stock intake? Do you have any pics of it installed?

I have a trd intake. What do you think my chances are of fitting your oil cooler?
