Post Plug&Play GPS Navigation for Kenwood DDX630W

Hi all,

Most of you have discussed about the 200mm DVD solution from Kenwood.

The DDX-630W is the best fit solution for many Toyota specific installations (200mm with double din slot installation). Having said that the DVD is a very good solution if you are after aesthetics, when compared to other model options from the same manufacturer.

In terms of features what I really like about this unit is the steering wheel switch integration is built-in to the system. So you can still use your steering multi-function switches for direct audio control. Also supports External GPS module for GPS Navigation upgrade. However the GPS solution offered through Kenwood is only specific to Garmin Maps. So for those who like to explore other map options such as iGo, Navitel, City Guide etc there is another solution. Its an aftermarket external plug & play interface that connects directly to the Kenwood DVD 13pin port (GPS connection port). The model is Navgo HNS-K979. This works just as the Kenwood external unit. You get direct touch screen control of your navigation through the DVD itself. Best part is it's much cheaper ($150 approx) and will run most map solutions that runs on WinCE platform.

Overall the DDX-630W delivers good sound and picture quality. Supports dual zone and many audio control options and has the provision to add external amplifiers for sound upgrading.

Hope this helps.
cheers.
