@pearlhatchiroku, had those before but i changed din after a year when i sold the rims so im not sure how reliable are them.. i went with these lugs since they're steel and its what most recommended especially when you track the car

Audio Gurus,

Im planning to get the Pioneer AVIC-8000nex but i read in the pioneer website FAQs that it is not possible to use US models overseas and will only provide map information for US and Canada, is there a way around this so that we can use the NAV system and would reflect the maps in the philippines?

Thanks

That head unit will receive a firmware upgrade for Apple's Carplay. You can use your iPhone's satnav app like Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze and as your nav system.

https://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/

If you use a non-iPhone then you'll have to use the current firmware.

I am waiting for a head unit with Apple Carplay so I can install it on my cars. The head unit we got from Subaru's stuck in 2004 when it's already 2014.

@Alabang BRZ, thanks sir, its better sana to have the headunit show our maps here in the philippines so that you dont have to go 3g everytime you need to navigate.

Its not the cost of the 3g, in fact my phone is always on 3g, im just not so sold by the idea that i need to hook up my phone if i want to navigate, that's why im looking at other alternative nav hus that provide our maps, and im guaging whether to get the 8000nex or the 4000nex, if thats the case then i think just the avh 4000nex would do

I have a standalone GPS with my head unit. I rarely use it because it's a bitch to use and the system is totally slow to respond. I almost always use my phone to navigate now. Waze is the best app to use. If you can pair it to your HU, then you get the best of both worlds!

Ganun? I used a sub$100 Garmin GPS with a free Philippine map. It's largely out out date. I dont think paid-for Philippine maps are any better.

The smartphone-based satnav apps are always up to date, free and in the case of Waze app has access to the current traffic data that allows it to give you a route that is shortest in time to travel.

One time Waze saved me 30 mins travel time from Boni High Street to Alabang via NAIA3 Skyway. I normally take C5 as it is the shortest in distance but sometimes is congested.

Ditch the Pioneer NEX and get a Kenwood Head Unit na lang. They have em locally and I think they have a Garmin nav upgrade with local maps.

Consider this 2014 Toyota 200mm wide head unit kenwood ddx635wbt

Again those maps are largely out of date by a year.

@Tye300, Alabang BRZ thanks for your inputs sirs , as im not very well versed in nav sytem and audio systems because, from my previous cars, the bulk of my mods goes to the engine and never paid much attention to HUs,

I think they sell the kenwood ddx635wbt around 40k, but after reading your inputs i might as well get the 4000nex, since its virtually the same as the 8000nex minus the nav feature and the capacitive touch screen, and just get the nav system in the future when the feature is good and stable.

@Tye300 sir if you dont mind, what kind of stand alone nav system are you using?

BTW i got the part number for that usb aux unit assy, its Su00302640 priced at P3,595, just in case anyone else needs it.

Let us know how your Pioneer NEX is like. Post a video ones the Apple CarPlay firmware has been installed onto your head unit. I am just waiting for the firmware to come out before buying the head any head unit for that feature.

Again those offline satnav systems are largely as useful as paper maps as compared to smartphone apps.
