Any Scion / Toyota service techs here? Main Body ECU replacment question.
I have a technical question for when the Main Body ECU (network gateway) is replaced in an FR-S.
I have Techstream and legit TIS Pro subscription and the legit Mongoose cable. I am only replacing the Main Body ECU. I am keeping the factory cluster, ECM, 3 registered keys, etc. There's some jargon in TIS that is confusing and I wanted to get clarification on it. Bold red text is confusing. If I erase the key codes before main body ECU replacement, then there won't be any registered keys anymore and that would create a larger issue...? NOTICE: If none of the registered keys are available, the main body ECU (network gateway ECU) cannot authenticate users, and it will be necessary to replace the combination meter assembly*1 or transponder key ECU assembly*2 with new ones. However, if there is at least one registered key available, erasing the key code before replacing the main body ECU (network gateway ECU) will make it unnecessary to replace the combination meter assembly*1 or transponder key ECU assembly* |

I am not a certified Toyota tech, nor have I ever programmed a Toyota. BUT, I have replaced and programmed many Ford/Chevy ECM's and other control modules. And while going through the process for a Ford I know when it gets to that part it will have you enter the keys and turn to on position, and a number of other steps with each key to learn them. Since you have all the software/hardware I would think you'll be fine and shouldn't have any problems. You could also give the dealership a call and see what they say.... But you should be fine.

ok you need to go into the immobilizer and do immoblizer erase to erase all the key codes. that puts the system into "auto registration". which basically allows any new keys to be programmed and no old keys are needed. then replace the body ecu. my more important question is why da faq are you replacing the body ecu????
