It's strange but the tempreture thing is kind true. I noticed crickets disappear during early morning or late at night (basically only when it's cool)

So is a worn pump with 10k+ miles on with no crickets going to be the next hot FS item? Should coin a new term... post metamorphosis fuel pump for sale, crickets evolved into silent butterflies.

Has anyone tried using sound insulation in the engine compartment or on the high pressure fuel pump itself? I just got my new BRZ and don't have crickets yet, but want to make it less noticeable when I do get them.

Toyota already tried it with me. Doesn't work. Just makes the pump hotter probably. I tore it all out about 5 months ago and didn't change a thing.

I used a bottle of Mag cleaner. Found this stuff at the shell station. [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0051ZHBII?pc_redir=1408634403&robot_redir=1"]Mag 1 142 Carburetor and Fuel Injector Cleaner - 12 oz., (Pack of 12):Amazon:Automotive[/ame]
Filled up w 93 and after a bit of spirited driving (heavy on the accelerator), the sound disappeared. We shall see if that lasts.

I tried E10 for the first time last week cause I was low on gas and was the first thing I found.

Instant crickets after 15K miles... going back to my 93 E0 even if its 5 cents more a liter.

My crickets went away in and around 6 to 7k miles. I have 10k on the fuel pump now and it has also become a silent butterfly

Would be interesting to start a poll of people >10k miles to see who still has crickets. Mine started at 1k miles, continued non-stop until 10k, at which point, they became intermittent. Still thinking it has more to do with pump temperature than anything else.

I just noticed on my new TSB pump that when I filled an empty tank with 100% gasoline, they immediately stopped. Immediately started when I filled that empty tank with Costco gas, which has <10% ethanol.

I've been fillling up at Costco exclusively, only chirps when it's pass half tank or extremely hot.

I'm at just over 15k miles and the crickets are still in full force when using E10. As soon as I fill up with E0 though, they completely go away. I've tested this several times and it's always the same.

Does this mean that the ECU isn't quite set up correctly for E10? If people use E90 or whatever (with the OFT tune) and don't get chirps and if people use the stock "tune" with E0 and get no chirps, then simple logic suggests that something in between (e.g. E10) needs its own tune (which could produce quieter results somehow).

What is it about the OFT tune that causes the change? Is the pump flow rate, timing, etc changed?

While I would love this to be true , from what I've heard e85 has a bunch of additives and lubricants that help eliminate the noise. I ran the OFT stage 1 tune for about six months and still had chirping the entire time.

However to be honest I'm not educated enough on the matter to know what is actually correct. I'm Just passing on what I've heard
