If you do not have either deep pockets or mechanical skills then you do not want to own a BMW or an Audi when it is out of warranty.
This is NOT an opinion. It is fact.

If you're not familiar with working on BMW's or don't have the expendable cash. I'd get the FRS. I was also in the same pickle, was about to pick up a used e92 m3 or 335. Then a buddy of mine told me how much the 50-60k tune-up costs (on his e46 m3) both to do at home and at the dealer. It's literally the price of a cheap commuter.

Just had this discussion the other day with my friend.
Chicks don't care what kind of BMW it is so long as it says BMW. Chicks don't know wtf a Scion is, let alone the spirit/story/reason that the FR-S is a "special" car lol. |

I do not yet own an FRS (still considering it) however I have owned a couple BMW and I have driven the FRS a few times.
If all you care about is getting laid, get the BMW, any BMW. Now if you care about actually driving experience it's a tougher choice. I would avoid the N54 engine like the plague (135, 335, 535 etc). I owned a 335i spent more time in the shop than on the road. I would probably also rule out the e90 M3, maybe an e46 if you can do most of the maintenance yourself. Now the ones I would consider when comparing them with the FRS would be a 328 or a 128. Personally I find the N52 engine to be pretty much bullet proof especially compared to the N54. Personally I find the 328 to be a bit large and soft. I would go with a 128 6spd (the auto is garbage) sport package if possible. I think it would be a tough choice for me between that and the FRS if you can find a 128 6spd for a decent price. But ultimately you need to drive them both and see what you prefer. |

My car before my BRZ was a 135i with mods.
I traded it in for my BRZ because the warranty had ended, it was nearing 60k miles, and I was just waiting for something bad to happen, at which time it would have cost thousands. BMW gives the impression you have money. Chicks dig guys with money. As an enthusiast, my BRZ is a lot more fun to drive and much cheaper to modify (and subsequently repair if needed) than my 135 was. Cheaper to own and maintain. Warranty would be the determining factor for me if considering the BMW because ANYTHING that happens will cost thousands to fix on the Beemer.. |

Bimmer all the way. Prestige like a Harvard diploma.
They are like fine wines, just reach their prime when the warranty runs out.
