"Burn Through" isn't the only thing that can occur from rotarys, "holograms" and "buffer trails" are very easy to instill with a rotary and they might not be that visible until the light hits them just right.

Don't get me wrong...I took in the advice you guys gave. I haven't bought one yet, so I'm still thinking about it. I just honestly feel and also read it gets blown out of proportion and all that stuff really isn't true unless you're really incompetent. I also can't afford a Rupes...if I got a DA, it'll be the GG. Rotary, either the Makita or Dewalt. The GG is cheaply built though; so a Makita or Dewalt would be a nicer machine that'll last almost forever.
From what I gather it would be difficult to "burn through" or make "holograms" unless you: Burn through: leave it at the same spot for a long time (who would really does this?? ...unless it's a YT video that does it on purpose), put too much pressure on edges, too high speed, wool pads, don't mind edges, etc. Holograms: wool pads, compound only with no polishing/finishing step afterwards (again, who does this? ...only a dealership, a cheap detailer or someone that doesn't know the correct steps), wrong speeds, too much pressure, etc. Those aforsaid things are only done by people that haven't read a single word on the correct usage. I really think if you don't do those aforesaid things that are obviously not to be done, that it will be quite impossible to "burn through" or get "holograms." |

Please post some pictures of your rotary buffer work on your car if you get your account sorted out. I'm curious to see how easy it is for you given all the things I see and read about rotary buffers vs DA buffers. BTW rupes is expensive but there are bunch of cheaper DA buffers even from harbor freight you can use for $50. P.s. on a side note, porsche 911 and cayman are awesome cars, not sure why you would bash them. 911 is a legend on the track and a cayman with differnt differential is even been than 911 as some have said. The only issues of high end cars is the maintenance cost. I personally don't like the interior as much as other sports car, but the exterior shape and looks is timeless. As you get older and a chance to be in one I think you will appreciate if after been in a ft86 boxer motor. It's a step up in boxer motor in terms of power and handling. I had been in a Z4MC and owned a Z4MR and I can say that if the Z4 had boxer motor on top of it's superior handling...wow is all I can say. Good luck |
