Buy the Vette. But buy it a few years used from an old guy who never abused it and was his garage queen.

I think the corvette is an ultra fixed up FR-S... It just weighs more and makes a lot more power from the factory. We should tell Scion and Subaru there is a market for this. Nissan makes a 100k GTR, Chevrolet makes a 100k Corvette, Dodge makes a Viper, Ford made the GT. The theme seems to be a "middle class" car company making world class sports cars with a high hp/weight ratio that can handle the power. You probably could purchase a 100k mustang these days. I think people would purchase a 80 or 100k world class Scion/BRZ. Make the FR-S/BRZ a similar power to weight (as the above vehicles), brakes, wheels, chassis reinforcement, suspension, etc. and while your at it take a couple hundred lbs. off. Or we can have a tuner make one, what is that Mustang company, Saleen, Steeda or Roush? Don't they just take mustangs and fix them up and charge tens of thousands over sticker?

http://www.2014newcorvette.com/corvette-history/
The Corvette started with 150 hp motor 6 cylinder automatic, according to the above link. They have had 60 years to figure this out, 60 years. Isn't this one of the longest running sports cars in the world? It is a fantastic, incredible car!!! I may buy one someday... I think they have made nearly 1.5 million according to this article. Much respect to the Corvette! I think the Nissan GTR came out in 2008 and competed with this car give or take, I think it was about the same price. Money changes cars... Make a 80, 90, or 100k FR-S from the factory and see what happens. At least as a drivers car made it here [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaS7n6qKQe4"]World's Greatest Drag Race 2! - YouTube[/ame] What you see is a Camaro, and a Mustang on steroids competing here as well as other super cars. Put some steroids on the FR-S/BRZ (BRZ in this video), it could keep up. However, this assumes you will have to do much re-engineering from the base model. However, isn't that what some of these did, say the Camaro, Mustang and maybe one or two others.. Just my silly ideas. Up the price by 50k and magic happens. It takes more than a higher pricetag. It's doable for companies like Chevy and Ford not just to make it but to charge what they charge, because they have a loyal fanbase that will do it... along with the numbers to make its production cost a reasonable amount. The Camaro gets its motors from the Corvette, pretty much, so the sharing of those engines helps reduce costs. So it's not just more money being thrown at the car.
The twins don't have that luxury. Would it get better with more money? Of course. But maybe not to the extent that you are expecting. |

I think Toyota has some Nascar and Formula one racing experience. I thought they were fromt engine rear wheel drive. They probably would have some quality data they could donate. I think they have a bit of practice and engineering databases from the Supra they may be able to share. They have so much information.
I am not sure if we would be able to take an STI engine and trans platform and make it fit into the FR-S/BRZ. If the STI makes 300 or so HP from the factory for, 80-100k we could get 400 or so HP. Then we could lose a few hundred lbs. somewhere. I think (qualifier) Toyota and Subaru are competent enough to make a Corvette challenging "FR-S" for 80-100k. |

Umm well, take a twin, boost it with your basic full blown kit and supporting mods... And yes it destroys the zo6 in almost everything

The z06 would still be faster in nearly every way. I love the twins, but let's not get carried away. That'd be like slapping twin turbos on a 370z and saying hurdur, I've got a gtr. It's not.

Except driveability, comfort, reliability, quality, aesthetics, serviceability, warranty, prestige, etc. I guess it is all about what you consider "better".
