Talking Automatic, Motorized Rear Spoiler anyone!?

Just wondering if anyone had the same crazy/silly Idea as mine....

Just HOW COOL would it be to have our OEM spoiler raise up just a tad, like them Porsche/Lambo/new exotics???

Is it that hard to make? I saw the parts from a Chrysler Crossfire and it looks pretty simple, surprised no one working on one..

I understand it wouldn't be counted as "performance" upgrade, but it'd be one of a kind "cool" factor.

Useful feedback preferred, but i'm sure we'll get some strong opinionated souls up in here.

Thanks!

If I were to make an attempt like this, it would be flush with the trunk, like the aventador wing, it would come up at 40, then higher at 60, and angle at 80.

That's exactly what im thinking, but doesn't have to have the speed sensor, since that's more involved imo. Just 2 settings: 1 flush, 2 raised (3"-6") will make me smile from ear to ear.

If the Chrysler Crossfire has one, I don't want it.

Just figured it's a cool upgrade and i'm starting to see every other new car has it, even the VW bug, so as far as the mechanics go, shouldn't be too expensive/hard to make, and if I can keep the original look of the 86, why not!? OEM look with some stealthy gadgets!

Unless anyone can make it function and look like the FT-1 concept...

Putting a motorized and functional spoiler on a trunk that's not designed for isn't easy. You can't just cut holes on the trunk, install motorized brackets, a wing and call it a day. The trunk structure or frame will have to be re-design so it's rigid enough for the moving parts.

I'm pretty sure motorized wing/spoiler weights a sh*t load.

If done right it might make your car look expensive and cool but that's it. Why spend $5k on a motorized spoiler when a $1k fixed spoiler can do 90% of the job?

I think an air brake would be cool. A mid sized wing, like the Greddy/Trust, would be perfect. The setup would just follow travel on your brake pedal. If I had a grand laying around for a decent wing, actuators, and spare trunk...

As for the actual raising and lowering, our car trunk line is too sexy for it.

While we are at it, let's throw on some hood flaps like the Huayra. That was sarcasm, but I'm still curious as to the end result. Gotta balance out that increase in rear end d-force yo!

Yeah, I had issues with the actuators changing speeds. I am still working on a one actuator setup. I have it based on voltage from the speed sensor.

Did you do any load measurements? I dont really see the factory spoiler being much of a downforce generator as a wing, but it should still agave a measurable number.
