Was searching for ideas on the internet but I was not brave to try the four jack stands. I found one from a bmw forum talking about using ramps for one side and lifting up the other so I tried it. I'm open to other ideas though. Would love to see how you guys did it.

Here's the other way I considered. Too expensive though. |

Still another one I was seriously considering. No space in my garage. |

I installed one of these MaxJax's in my buddies garage a couple months ago...let me warn you the initial install and setup is way more of a PITA than it was made out to be. If you ever do get one...make sure you rent a ROTARY HAMMER DRILL from Home Depot if you don't have one. The Rotary part is important...we tried to use a regular hammer drill and it SUCKED. One or two holes ended up being slightly crooked and it made the whole install a pain in the ass. That plus bleeding the hydraulic system was a pain and it took forever to get all of the air out. The safety locking system leaves a lot to be desired, they are literally just two big ass pins you slide into the pillars...but they only have two positions. so working height adjustability is minimal and leaves much to be desired. It took us an entire day to install the thing and while it does work it's definitely one of those...you get what you pay for kind of things. If you have a 10ft ceiling in your garage for $600 more than the MaxJax you could easily fit a Bendpak XPR-9 in your garage which is a MUCH better lift. Yeah it's not easily portable...but in all honesty almost no one uses the portability as much as they think they will. Most people bolt it into the floor and forget about it then just pull far enough forward to clear the doors when they park. The XPR-9 also has automatic safety locks every 4" of rise and the XPR-9LP has low profile arms for lifting up lowered cars. I have a Bendpak HD-9XW with an RJ-4500 Bridge Jack in my garage and I love it. Having a lift makes a huge difference in everything you do and what you can accomplish in a day. I highly recommend it to anyone who can afford it and has the space, best purchase I have ever made. Here is a pic of my setup.

[quote=n2oinferno;1901263]So what's your budget? The ez car lift is almost $2000 with shipping which I feel is too much money for a little more space than jackstands. The max jack is $2300 with free shipping i thought was a better choice but after reading the review from Sony, I changed my mind. I will keep looking. It's on my want/ wish list not really a need.
