You basically got a TRD GT-86 Limited for $23k? Please explain.

For the Monograms, the west coast received their allocations about 3 weeks before the southeast. Canada was almost a month after that. So I'd be willing to bet something similar will happen this time.

I would've bought this in Canada but its release date here is September... By the time it's fully ready, it's almost winter time, and would be bad timing. There's also only 75 coming here apparently, so that would mean less negotiation and wiggle room.

Thus I bought the Series.Blue BRZ instead. Got that in July. Granted it isn't as stuffed with extras like the RS 1.0, but I feel like it has much better value. Plus I don't think the released versions aren't equipped with the 18-inch TRD wheels, but rather just the typical OEM wheels.

As an owner of a BRZ, IMO the RS is far better value. Essentially the same price, the Scion gets a full aero kit, springs, exhaust, unique paint, and a better steering wheel. The BRZ just gets an aero kit and wheels (I don't consider the interior as an addition, plus the Scion has a unique space invaders pattern on their alcantara too)

Well yeah you'r right you got a point. Nonetheless, too late for me now as I got a series.blue instead.

If I could go back and both were available at the same time, I'd get the RS 1.0

I might be a bit bias but I think the s.b is a better deal then the rs1.0
That might be because I got mine for 2k less then sticker.

Series.Blue Standard Trim:

STI Black front, side, and rear quarter under spoilers
STi wheels (17" black w/STI center caps)
JDM Underbody panels
Frameless day-night rear view mirror
Floor mats with silver BRZ logo and blue trim
Two-tone blue and black leather Steering Wheel
Two-tone blue and black leather Alcantara seats w/Silver embroidered BRZ logo.
Interior highlighted with blue stitching
Blue stitched Padded Knee pads on doors and center console
Red STi illuminated start button
Red painted brake calipers
Dash panel and audio trim, simulated carbon fiber, large pattern

The rs1.0 does have a lot of extras like the color, springs and aero kit but the exhaust is not a full exhaust, just Quad Tipped.. so people are prob going to replace that anyway.
What gets me is they are trying to advertise the rs1.0 with all these extras like "HID Headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lights. Inside you’ll find Dual-zone Automatic Climate Control, a Smart Key with Push Button Start" That are pretty much standard on the BRZ limited already. They could have at least gave the rs1.0 some fog lights
Either way both cars are awesome.

This is pretty sweet and it's a no brainer for Toyota to release these TRD editions similar to Nissan with the Nismo Z and HFP from Honda. It'll be perfect for the type of enthusiasts that wants a "factory tuned" street car.

But for enthusiasts like me and many others in this game, it's a waste of money because we're gonna be applying our own style to everything we touch and see from suspension to aero parts.

The build process was described as follows.... The cars will be generally allocated to the dealers. Once the factory assigns the vehicle as being allocated to the dealer, and headed to productionthe dealer can go in and, if possible, modify the basic build. This happens every 2 weeks for the production schedule. My dealer was not on the first allocation which was last wednesday and we're hoping to be there in the 27th. At least that is the process as described to me. If anyone has additions or contradictions, i'd wecome the info.

I called my dealer yesterday, and it appears that they don't tell their salespeople the allocation numbers for "special edition" cars (Go figure why...). So I asked to speak with a sales manager, and he told me that my dealership actually has 3 of them allocated, and I'd be getting the first one. He says that the system still shows it as "A" status for Allocation, and that it usually takes 1-3 months to get here after you put the order in for a vehicle in that state.

I asked them to modify the build to include the TRD wheels, and looks like they were able to do that in the system, so I'm assuming that means it's currently in that "headed to production" stage?

The dealer is also telling me that it may take a long time because it's coming from Japan. But from what I've been reading... aren't they already built, but get the TRD parts assembled by the US TRD? If that's so... shouldn't they already be in the US, and therefore, we shouldn't need to worry about customs and such? Ultimately, I guess the cars still "come" from Japan which is why I think my dealer is saying that, but if TRD is modifying them in the US, then I hope it gets here much faster than my dealer says

If you can get a sales manager to spend some time with you at his computer, you'll be amazed at how much info they have access to. My dealer told me about 2 weeks ago my car would be there in 30 days or less. I had him preference one for me probably a month before that...

Looking to add the TRD wheels as well as the armrest and fog lights. Really looking forward to this as the last car I had that stirred the heart was my 1991 MR2 Turbo. Glad to have Toyota producing something for the enthusiast again.

How much extra dollars bucks are the TRD wheels? I've just been skimming through the thread but haven't been able to locate that specific info. Just a bunch of "I wish it wasn't yellow" comments.

I LOVE the yellow. Totally wish I didn't have my BRZ Limited "STI" already, otherwise I'm sure I would've picked this up and Toyota'd it out the park. *shrug*

Same. I got Series.Blue edition. If I can do it over again, I'd get this RS 1.0 with TRD wheels even if it's more expensive.

Just that the release date is terrible for Canadian weather.
