LOL, seriously? Read the OP: "- Since performance is our sole objective, we will not be producing either a catted or UEL version of this header."

Wow... Thank you for building this!! Glad to finally see a properly engineered header for our cars.

When can I expect mine in the mail for testing would love to see what it does on my high compression e98 NA build.

FWIW... I have been in this industry for over 15 years and PTuning is one of the few companies that doesn't post DYNO Fluff just for fun.

I feel comfortable believing this header does exactly what they say it does.

Jesus, that's more than a completely custom header for my car. We're talking custom piping size, custom step placement, custom merge collector angle, custom venturi size and transition.

Sure looks pretty though.

Secondly, my "LS" reference was to a Corvette I had owned and sold 2 years ago. Not some Honda B series you where speaking about. True it's a different animal, but performance is performance. The platform changes, however the core fundamentals in a gasoline combustion engine still hold true. It's still suck, squeeze, bang and blow. All the same there. It's all about efficiency.

In my LS3, I had long tube headers and an exhaust with a tune by one of the top C5/C6 tuners in the country and made just shy of 45HP gains with a tune and the mods. Again, that's a 10-15% increase over stock WITH a tune. So to say a 25% gain, that's a little tough to swallow. That is what I am saying.

In my time I have seen all of the talk and hype in many cars that I have followed and owned including an NSX, which again I sold back in 2008. There was a huge battle of turbo systems between LoveFab (whom at the time was the undisputed king of NSX turbos in my opinion) versus another company out of the west coast (name evades me**old person problems**) and they both claimed their kits where better. All kinds of jaw jacking going on for months. An NSX meet occurred where the 2 companies faced off at an agreed equal turbo size, similar kit, same dyno fresh engines and same boost level. Needless to say, the LoveFab's competitor was caught with their pants down. At the same boost level, they made (if I recall now, been sometime) like 75HP LESS than Cody's monster. So the moral of the story is that inside dyno numbers don't always equal or equate to outside numbers. That story showed it all.

So I guess what I am getting at is......can we see said product dyno'd before and after on another person's dyno other than yours? If the gains remains the same, then you spent $75 and an hour of time and now have won over PLENTY of potential header and exhaust sales such as myself (for the header) and claim your fame, which is a small price to pay to shut the crowd up.

Just my respective 2 cents. Don't get me wrong, I love what you did with your turbo. Truly sold on it, but I need to be realistic with funds due to several external factors.
I understand your hesitance to believe such a healty gain is achievable, but let me educate you a bit (even though you have been messing around with cars for longer than I have been alive ). Short of being on an F1 team, PTUNING truely researches and develops their components. The shop FRS is nearing 1000 dyno pulls, and beyond that the tuner has countless hours invested in tuning various setups on FT86's. This allows the staff to have great knowledge on what works and what doesn't . The FT86 isn't the first platform PTUNING has dabbled with, they hands down have the best Scion tc1, tc2, and s2000 turbo kit on the market. While other companies ( who even had the word ''development'' in their company name) rushed to be the first on the market with a turbo kit, PTUNING took the time to release a quality TESTED product. Good example , a popular company ''developed'' a kit without bead rolled charge pipes ( which was later updated ) . Same company had issues with cracking manifolds ( which was later updated ) . Same company used a draw thru MAF design ( which was later updated to blow through ) . That same company also sold a ''developed'' copper exhaust manifold gasket for their kit, which always leaked. These are things high end companies take into account, to pull away from the rest. When a product is produced from PTUNING, you don't have to worry about revisions because the revisions were done pre-production as result of dyno testing, track testing. The header being released, was redone 3 times. This was a result of finding potential gains and also quality control. The 40whp is real, combine the best exhaust, the best header, and the best tuner... and those numbers reflect that.

I think the biggest difference to your LS is the FA20s VVTI or whatever acronym they like to use. It allows headers to be optimised a lot more than the fixed cam timing on an LS. I suspect if more of the headers available for the FA20 were tuned to "within 5deg of optimal cam timing" instead of just off the shelf tunes we would see some pretty good gains floating around the forum.

Once the coating flakes off, it's all downhill from there. It doesn't affect performance, but it makes the coated part look pretty gnarly.

Given that our header is 100% T304 stainless steel (not 409), you could conceivable clean and polish up the header if you ever went to sell your car and do a part out. The chances of the ceramic coated part looking new after years of hard use is not so likely.

We would definitely not sway any customer away from ceramic coating, if he/she wished to do so. We would just prefer going with a heat shielding route like the factory does.

Ok thanks for the explanation. A heat shield done right makes great sense and I hope you do go that route.

Doug, we'll be in contact once we get the production headers in. BTW, how's the subie and GTR business. We both need to get back into time attack racing like the old days

I have another interesting update for you guys.

As expected, we have no CEL's with our header. Our header does not require an 02 harness extension, O2 spacers or tubes, anti-foulers, or ECU DTC code disabling

What are the advantages of not disabling the O2/cat related DTC codes? You can bolt on this header and run it without worrying about CEL codes while you wait to tune. More importantly though, you'll be able to complete the OBD-2 readiness checks.

Subscribed, some of you guys sure make us wanna stay true to the NA side. How loud is this thing with a full 3" exhaust including your headers.

Well young man, that is great that ptuning (as I am under the presumption you work for said company) do your homework. Any manufacturer of a "quality" product SHOULD be doing their homework. With all due respect to you and you're employer, a cookie will not be rewarded for doing your due diligence as a "quality" or "developed" manufacturer. It is to be expected that you do research and development. Revisions are a good thing when and if mistakes are learned from and adapted to. After-all, if this where not true, we would be still cavemen and giraffes would have short necks etc. Adapt to survive is essentially Darwinism. Some of the "best" companies out there do this every few quarters with a new product. Ever hear of this little company called Apple? Or possibly Samsung? I am sure you have. These are prime examples of adapting with evolution. On the story of adaption, I will share some history for you about hot-roding you may not know.

You're probably too young to remember this, but back in the late 80-90s, a large connecting rod manufacturer was making rods for Nascar (Richard Petty endorsed) with an I-beam rod design that failed miserably. (Plenty of carnage on these very expensive race motors). They found the limitations of their design the hard way. The rod manufacturer revamped the rod design and went forward only to have another issue in the early 90s due to a rod bolt issue from the supplier. That didn't stop them either. The went to a different rod bolt manufacturer and continued on. They are still in business today producing fine products and designing the factory C6 Z06 rods for General Motors.

So moral of the story is that I personally don't care how many rodeos you have been down. If I feel that you have integrity, a quality, well made product and you say it does something and it does everything you claim it does, then you sir will win my sale. I am a relatively easy person to appease. I just do not like to be lied to or mislead.
