Problem is the scan takes a few minutes to complete with my 256gb flash drive... just not a reasonable option, surely there has to be a way for the app to see /mnt/usb/sdb1/ without doing that every time.

I posted my Google Doc a few weeks ago that I've been building up with a collection of all the tips & tricks from this thread. Just a reminder that if anyone wants to help add on to it, it is open for editing and hopefully has a good amount of useful information on it. I know a couple other people from here have been adding to it also.

They don't have the Dashlinq4 in their list of compatible devices on Google Play, even though it does (at least mostly) work. To install it, you have to download the APK from their website and sideload it.

Unfortunately Poweramp has probably the worst control layout for car control of any of the major music apps, so I really need to use a different player so I'm not running off the road trying to read the stupid small font on the song listings. PlayerPro would be perfect, and maybe Shuttle too, but I can't get them to continue to read my music.

Just an update for anyone curious about their current order to ship lead time - I ordered on the 5th (Wednesday) and received tracking info on the 11th (Monday). Anyone know how long DHL takes to get from Hong Kong to NY? I'm assuming I'll have it by the end of this week.

Does anyone know if this will work fine with the O+ 400 or reference series audio upgrade you can purchase for the car.

I'm using this HU with the 400 cf reference system. Works great.

BOOM! USB MUSIC REMOUNT!

AHA! I figured out how to get all your music from USB storage to show up on any music player!

First, you need root access.
Once you're rooted, download this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...e.fmount&hl=en

What foldermount does is essentially creates a link to your external USB mounts (that are not scanned by the system "media storage" app, that most music players use to detect music) and puts those links inside your internal sdcard folder so that media storage can scan those files!

So basically you just have to set the source path like this /mnt/sdcard/Music/ (or wherever you want the USB to show up)

and your destination as /mnt/usb/[drive name mine is sdb1]/Music/

Set it to launch at boot and then reboot and you'll see it activate in the notification bar upon reboot, then your music will show up in all your music players!

Note: This doesn't just work for music, it can actually be used to remap your micro SD card as internal storage for more app and data space if you really get into it. This could really change the game for this HU, you could use it to store Sygic map packs on your micro SD, change download paths to USB or Micro SD, or put whole apps on the micro SD card if you're so inclined (your results may vary), enjoy!

Edit: I originally posted the directions backwards, source should be internal and destination should be usb drive.

Since you need root anyway, why not just use a symbolic link from terminal? I assume that's what this app is ultimately doing anyway.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean or how to do that, is that a permanent change or something that would be required on every boot?

You could use a command line operation (using the ln -s target source command in terminal) to symbolically link an internal directory to an external sdcard one. For all intents and purposes, any application navigating to the source directory will be hitting the target one without it knowing.

It should persist through boots unless android works differently than I think it does.

I just changed the Poweramp theme to one more suited for a car.
