you're right. I was going by the first one I saw...

I was going by the first one I saw and the link didn't specify year. It was a 15.5 quarter which was back in 95... a newer lightning is faster out of the box.

Trying to beat cars in a straight line with a FR-S/BRZ? You're doing it wrong.

Not trying to beat them in a straight line, not staying with a stock twin either, but I'm just saying that the claim they are way under powered isn't true.

They aren't well powered but they aren't weak either.

Lined up with some guy in a Smart car at a stoplight today. I took off normally and he went full throttle probably up to 50mph as if we were racing..just laughed so hard. Dude you're driving a Smart car, what are you trying to prove.

I was at a red light at the bottom of a two lane road. This road snakes up a hill and has a few wide turns. Shifting lanes like on a track, a Brz could probably do over 100mph

A mid 2000's Acura tailgates me me and then speeds off... Needless to say, he was understeering at the first turn and I left him in the dust at a moderate pace...

Same road, going the opposite direction. Similar vehicle but slightly modded. I roll off from 4th, and And the same thing. My Brz's rear end is wagging slightly, and he slams his brakes and is in the other lane... His license plat said "amdrift" More of a "race me bro" encounter than a douche encounter

I was driving home from work one day and a Volvo C30 was following me. I had the feeling that he would drive as fast as I would no matter what speed I went, and he did. I went around a turn at a Brz friendly speed, and his front end was scraping the the road and he was in the other lane. This one definitely made me laugh

I guess people have something to prove. I enjoy spirited driving, but only on certain roads at certain times etc... I'm typically driving the speed limit when this stuff happens
There was a road i used to do this on all the time (sadly it got closed due to a mudslide). I'd have idiots in heavy high HP cars follow me off the freeway and try and keep up. Watching a Charger RT try and navigate up a 1 way hillside road with hairpins is pretty hilarious (idiot...).

Strangely, my issue is with chevy cruzes, dodge darts, lifted trucks, and v6 ponys...
I have met a lot of cool people while driving, but these cruzes around here (NE Ohio) are starting to get annoying...

Today I followed a Porsche Carrera 2 996 up through a twisty section, and that driver had a handle on that car so well. Either that or it was Tiptronic, cause that car could GO. Probably my most favorite car ever.

Old BMW 7 Series (black paint), I think it was an E23 or an E32, speeding like a fucking lunatic in rush hour traffic, saw him coming in my mirrors, there was no place for him to go as I was already making a pass going like 20 over, so he passed on the shoulder doing about 80.

Last night, or tonight from my point of view as I work nights and stay up over night on my "days" off, I had a range rover sport pull up next to me at a red light and straight up asked if I wanted to race. I declined. To which he whined and said " oh come on" gesturing towards the lights, and I said "nah I'm good I like my clean license" and then proceeded to pull away like a grandma, FTW

Oh and I got hunted down yesterday by a civic si with a couple bros wearing flat bills and pac-sun wayfarers. Did a ricer fly by on me making sure V-TAK YO kicked in as they passed, then slammed the brakes to get along side me and shifted down. I looked to my left, made eye contact, and rolled my window up whilst maintaining eye contact. Then I continued on my merry way.

I don't think Tiptronic 996 should be any quicker than a manual. Probably a tick slower. Tiptronic is a slushbox (torque converter) automatic, not an automated manual. Power loss in the TC, greater weight.

I had a IS-F who lined up next to me as I was cruising on the highway. He did a pull to get my attention and waited around for me to catch up.

Well, he ended up waiting for a while cause I didn't bother to catch up to him.

Less than 100 miles on the FRS and heading to business meeting on a heavily patrolled 55mph expressway and a red Celica GT pulls up along side and matches speed for a bit. I look over but he refuses to make eye contact.

I end up pinched by a slow car in my lane so I pull behind the GT and he slows to 45. So now I'm done with this doofus. I assume he's wanting to race. Me- I'm on an important call. Plus I'm not ready to wind up the RPMs quite yet. And I know those old GT's are fast! A bit down the road we end up together again- and again he won't make eye contact. I flip the bird and wait for him to even glance over. Nothing.

I didn't buy this car cause it will out pull every speed racer dude. Didn't realize the attention they draw in some circles. All good. I still love my flypaper red 86. Even if it draws all the little bugs out there buzzing around.

I've had that happen a few times, sometimes I catch up look over and give a thumbs down. Then hit the brakes and get back to where I was lol
