Agreed. I ended up using an old cable from a previous hid kit. Worked out nicely

Finally finished this DIY. Thx for the info. Haven't aligned them yet but cut off line looks nice. Was bummed that one ballast doesn't turn on immediately though. I have to switch them on and off.

Wow, huge thanks to @civicdrivr @raul and HIDPlanet for the awesome guide/help. I was finally able to complete the project over the weekend and I gotta admit, its a lot better than our stock halogens.

Raul and i have noticed that the relay harness that's being shipped out now is different than the one pictured on the first page.

@thorlius - do you have the new harness that has a ground at each ballast instead of at the battery?

I had issues with My amp that were oddly similar... I have a feeling it's all related.

Oh and this thread is amazing! I love the using the stock projectors in the high beam spot just for the DRLs. Looks sick... I Hope people start playing with the taillights some. It'd be cool to see some custom ones, though, the aftermarket has really done well on that front.

I don't think I can do this mod until I fix the lights in my miata or at some point I will have to go from these to Oem Miata garbage... It's awful... anyone who's owned an NA can attest to this.

Wow, it's been over a year and I somehow missed this and am just seeing it now. I pretty much just dealt with the flickering, because it's subtle and only an issue at night at stoplights, half the time.

I'm ordering the new wiring harness with those grounds (mine is the one with just the battery ground) and also some 4300k bulbs instead of the 6000k's. Hopefully that (the harness, not the bulbs) fixes it. If not, ballasts are next.

The pictures are no longer accessible and I just got mine in and I need to adjust them. This is the only link I can find for it lol.

Tools Needed:
-Tape (painters tape is preferred since its easy to see, but all I had was duct tape)
-Measuring tape (one that is at least 25')
-Phillips head screwdriver
-Wall and flat, level ground (I find that loading docks are perfect for this)
-Night

The basics: The DOT standard for aiming lights is simple. Park the car on flat, level ground 25' from a wall. Measure the height of the head light from the ground (use the little dot in the headlamp lens to measure from), subtract 2", and line up the uppermost portion of the cutoff with that number.

For example: The headlight in the below picture 26" from the ground. Therefore, the top of the cutoff should be 24" from the ground (when parked 25' from the wall).

The adjusters youre looking for are these:

Passenger side:

Driver side:

The screwdriver goes between these two slots:

Remember the old saying - righty, tighty, lefty, loosey? Well, righty in this case raises the beam, lefty lowers it.

And its as simple as that.

Color band at ~100'

Overall, these projectors are very impressive given their size and price point. The highbeam impresses me most. Unfortunately I was unable to snap pics of that as I was being questioned by cops.

The adjustment is really simple. If you're looking at the backside of your headlights there's 2 little knob looking things with a toothed washer underneath them. One is on the corner down towards the wheel and one is right there in plain sight closer to the hood. Just wrench on those til you're happy with their direction. One is for elevation and one is for right to left. Good luck.

Question

Does anyone know if we can use this kit to retrofit aftermarket headlights such as the ones by spyder, spec-d, and winjet so we can have led drl's instead of halogen? I want to have the "expensive" look of LEDs and bi-xenon.

Depends on how comfortable you are baking open the lights. Should be fine but don't hold me to that.

If it works I will surely post pics here. Although I won't get my FR-S until 2015 due to me being active duty in the military. Even then it depends on my permanent duty station and by that time Scion may have hid and led drl as a factory option. Just doing research before hand so I can put my pennies in the right jar (My I seem to ramble a lot). If anyone else attempts this please post pics and your methods here.
