Fitting the Sprint kit requires wheels with appropriate offsets to clear the calipers. There's a thread on here where you can see which wheels clears them. I think even Essex website lists some confirmed fitments. Bear in mind that just because a certain size and offset on one type of wheels clears, it doesn't mean it applies to other wheels even in the same size and offset. The spoke design plays a big role in whether a wheel would clear your calipers.

By the way if I were you I'd go for the Sprint kit. It's been developed specifically for our platform and even the hardcore track guys abuse them with success. You'd also get much better support from Essex and this online community since so many others are using the Sprint.

I don't know much about getting aftermarket brakes approved, apart from being expensive and real pita unless you know people. Anyways I didn't think you'd need hoses specifically made to order locally in order to comply? I thought as long as the hoses are DOT certified they will also meet local standards?

I have been through the process of getting my brakes Engineered (yep, that's a verb). The Dept of Infrastructure, responsible for ADRs and the like, doesn't recognise DOT Approval as an equivalent standard like TUV (Germany). The brake lines I had made has "ADR xx" (I don't remember the number) stamped into the flange collar.

We are unable to permit the Sprint kit in WA. Due to the braided lines but mainly due to the lack of dust boots.
Then again, i doubt a cop is going to ask us to rip apart out brake setup to check for dust boots on the side of the road.

These guys are all over it Jing. The 299x32mm disc in our kit is rather small in the grand scheme of things, but it is an overbuilt beast. Our kit has been on the market two years now, and we've barely sold any replacement discs! We run the same disc in asphalt late model racing on cars that are 2800 lbs. with 400-500 hp. They will handle anything you throw at them and more.

The S2000 wheel offsets are horrible...definitely the most difficult fitment we've done on any vehicle in terms of clearance. There's just no room to work on those cars. The FT86 platform is far better on wheel clearance with tons more room to work and wheel options. Below is the wheel list I've collected thus far, and I know there are many others out there.

Competition Friction in your neck of the woods very likely has our Sprint Kit on the shelf. If they don't, they can get you one. We have them built and ready to ship today.
Confirmed Wheel Fitment

According to our customers who installed this big brake kit, any of the wheels below will without a spacer. Essex cannot guarantee fitment however, so please check fitment using our wheel fit template.
Name size offset
  • Enkei NT03+M 17x7.5 +35
  • Enkei Raijin 18x8 45
  • Enkei RPF1 17x7.5 +48
  • Enkei RPF1 17x8 +35
  • Enkei RPF1 17x8 45
  • Enkei RPF1 (very tight fit, but works) 17x9 +35
  • Enkei Fujin 17x7.5 40
  • Kosei K4R 17x8 36
  • Mach V Motorsports "Awesome" wheel 17x9 42
  • OZ Ultraleggera 17x8 +48
  • Rays CE28N 18x7.5 47
  • Ray's Gramlights 57DR 17x9 +38
  • Sparco (designed by OZ) Assetto Gara 17x7.5 48
  • SSR GTF01 18x8.5 +44
  • Subaru OEM STI Wheels (2004) 17x7.5 53
  • Team Dynamic 1.2 17x7 38
  • TSW Nurburgrings 17x8 +45
  • Volk Racing TE37RT 17x9.5 +40
  • Volk se37k 17x7.5 +48
  • Volk se37k 17x8 +35
  • Volk TE37 17x8 +35
  • Volk Trophy 18x8.5 +42
  • Wedsport sa67 18x9 +36
  • Wedsport TC105n 17x9 35
  • Wedsport TC105n 17x8 +42
  • 18" Work Meister S1R O-disk (O disk is least clearance disk, so A/R/T will fit as well)
  • Work Ultimates 18x8.5 47
The wheels below will fit with a spacer of the specified thickness.
Name size offset, spacer thickness
  • 2013+ USDM OEM BRZ or FR-S front wheels, 10mm spacer
  • OEM NZDM Gt86 (by enkei)16x6.5 +48, needs at least 8mm spacer
  • SSR type-c 16x7 +48, needs 5mm spacer
  • Volk Racing TE37 18x7.5 +48, needs 5mm spacer
  • Volk TE37 17x7.5 +48, needs 3mm spacer
  • Watanabe Needs15x6 +35, needs 25mm spacer

Hopefully that helps.

Where did you get the lines made up?

Off topic, but are the STI Brembo's considered aftermarket as well and requires permit/engineered?

Not having dust boots shouldn't really be an issue in Australia since we don't get snow and salt on our roads. But yea that's unfortunate coz the Sprint kit is good shit.

The AP Formula kit comes with dust boots though.

The S2k is different in that it runs high offset wheels, so the face designs of these wheels tend to not be BBK friendly.

The S2k data cannot be compared with BRZ/FRS/GT86 Data.

We come from a S2k background

What do we have here...

A.C.T. Brakes Phillip , Canberra.
http://www.actbrakes.com.au/
The thing I found interesting was I was expecting them to send my original lines to some secret location that would take weeks but I was told they make them on the premises. They were busy that afternoon so they wouldn't be ready until the following day.
The STI brakes are not offered by the manufacturer as an option so yes, they have to be engineered.

Agreed, but like i said there is no way a cop can check for dust boots. That being said do you want to go through the effort of taking the entire kit off to get the defect notice removed from the car?

It is an excellent kit and it doesn't get a second look due to its grey look.
