Cutting apart the rear bumper

Hey all. Does anybody have a picture of the course part of the rear bumper cut out? Basically cut out where the bumper turns from painted to the course plastic. I've already cut out the reverse lights which looks great tho has no purpose really, I am thinking about cutting the entire course part out and making my own full rear diffuser for time attack purposes. I am hoping to find a picture before I start cutting tho.

Thanks very much!

"Absolutely amazing" lol… Sorry, just thought that was funny. Unless you have rear control arms and blinged out rear suspension, it's going to look like garbage.

Once he fills it with diffuser, you may not see any of that.

Once it has a diffuser in there you won't see any of it, and as a track car, I really don't care how it looks lol.

But I do love the raw look, so it is pretty amazing looking IMO.

Looks a lot better cut out on a dark colored car than the stock plastic - slims down and accentuates the shape. Mine below (I've just trimmed it yesterday right to the painted area like Anothony did on his white FRS, this picture is fairly old):

I'll be working an LED reverse light into the rear bumper beam just to the right of the LH tow mount area (getting rid of the stock reverse light I have temporarily mounted in the process), rework the rear bumper beam - cutting off the formed extended seam and welding it flush for more exhaust clearance, rework exhaust to dual-center exit with it tucked up for best clearance, and come up with a custom diffusor design.

One thing I have noticed, the car is more stable at speed with that fake 'diffusor' skin removed with an aftermarket exhaust....even with no real diffusor added yet.

Thats one of the most horrible things I've ever seen. I sure hope you dont drive around like that in public. I would be sure to point and laugh.

Anyhow, here is the Tom's diffuser, that required cutting the factory one away. I replaced the oem tail light with mesh, and relocated the reverse lights to my backup camera.

If you want a raw race-car look, maybe something like this? I'm sure somebody already got something similar.

Most GT race cars have mesh on the back, because the rules require mechanical parts not be visible from the rear. Mesh satisfies that requirement, even though you can see thru it.
