Got mine a couple weeks ago. Getting it all set up now.

Got the idea from here
http://www.mp3car.com/show-off-your-...log-diy-2.html

Nova Launcher.

Froze CarHome launcher in Titanium Backup. Doesn't seem to stay in standby mode all the time. Haven't figured out what keeps it in standby sometimes and sometimes not.

Using Home2Shortcut to remap some of the buttons.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....home2shortcut

Zooper widgets. Made transparent widgets that act as shortcuts to each app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...g.zooper.zwpro

The black bar at the top is where the built-in notification bar is.

Also using multipicture live wallpaper. You can set it up and have 2 pages with different apps on each.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...r.multipicture

Here is my folder with all the files. My subaru psd file is organized like my junk drawer but it's all customizable.

Well you certainly in the lead for most customized now Nice job.

Here's the latest firmware Will sent me: https://copy.com/KCGzYmeY3hxzEWsV

It's got Carhome disabled (the front end one, not the page with all the apps), so now when you hit the home button it goes to the widget and app home page, which is great. It also has the volume default set at level 9, which I think is more pleasant for getting in your car initially.

I asked Will about the possibility of changing what some of the default hard button presses do and he said he'd talk to the engineers to see if it's possible.
But, it seems you may have figured out some it already with Home2Shortcut? How exactly did you get it working, I tried that app before and I couldn't get it to work because pressing the home button wouldn't bring up a default home screen prompt. I'd love to see even a short video of your new homescreen, I might give it a try, or try and get Google Now launcher running like it is on my phone.

Once I froze CarHome launcher in Titanium Backup I was able to choose a default launcher with the home button. I'm sure you could use the Google Now launcher. There may be other apps to freeze system apps also. I've just been using Titanium for years now. I'll try to get a video up later.

Been on the sidelines since this thing came out and was hoping for a US group buy to no avail. Fuck it, trigger pulled.

Anyone know what their current lead time to ship is?

I think I'm ready to pull the trigger. Going to be putting this in a 2014 WRX hatch, but you guys seem to be the best community around this unit. This should just plug and play on the WRX, right?

I know it's the same size, 200mm x 100mm.

Do the BRZ and the WRX share the same stereo harnesses?

Will the recommended aux, antenna and USB plug adapters work for me?

Funny, I've been using app quarantine to freeze other apps on the unit, but didn't try carhome because I thought I heard it didn't work, going to try this out tonight!!!

Really can't say as I haven't been in the new WRX, but I'd assume so. You can always order them on amazon and return if they don't work, or you take out your current radio and snap a few pictures/video of the back and the connectors and maybe we can figure it out.

2015 is the new one. 2014 should be the same at least back to 2008.

So I tried freezing the carhome app, with Google Now launcher and Home2shortcut installed, the home button then defaulted to Home2shortcut, but I couldn't select any apps in home2shortcut to choose another launcher. So I uninstalled home2shortcut and then my unit crashed, and now I can't get past the Android start screen.... will update (but it seems Google Now launcher won't work with Home2shortcut, again I didn't try Nova, will probably try once I get my unit working again...)

So I was able to get the unit working again by putting the update folder back on the SD card and hitting the reset button a few times (wouldn't work at first, kinda had me worried for a while there, but it eventually updated).

I re-rooted and decided to brave it one more time, this time installing Nova launcher first (Google Now Launcher just did not work), and made sure Home2Shortcut recognized Nova before freezing CarHome. I then froze carhome, and with carhome frozen you don't actually need Home2shortcut to make Nova your default launcher, but with Home2Shortcut you can have 1 click of the physical home button to launch the Nova launcher, and a double click can launch the Nova voice search activity, launching google now voice search, which is just excellent for hands free!

Nova launcher is very fast on this unit and now I just have to figure a better way to customize it to the screen (icon sizes and whatnot), think I'll try that look Halesyeah posted.

Glad you got it working. With Home 2 shortcut you can also create shortcuts for the back and menu buttons. To use the shortcut just press the home button and then quickly press the menu/back button. With Nova Launcher you can also enable always on Ok Google functionality. It's in the Nova settings.
