@scottmcphee
Just finished installing mine. Couldn't get the original one off clip so resorted to just plugging the Tap Turn one in and zip tying it secure so it doesn't move around.

7 Days from Canada to Aus..Pretty quick and awesome service. Thanks Bud!

TapTurn just got a spring refresh...

Two new functions added, that I think you might like. This taken right off the new-look website:

Arrival & Departure Lighting

TapTurn adds convenient pathway lighting that is appreciated at night when walking around the vehicle or in dark places to avoid tripping. While parked, after using the remote to lock or unlock the vehicle all signal bulbs illuminate steadily (not blinking) for a minute to light the way around the vehicle. Bulbs go out automatically after the timed period elapses or by starting the car - whichever happens first.

The exterior illumination timer is easily adjusted from 25 seconds to 25 minutes, or the feature can be turned off completely if not needed. Adjustments are made quickly using just the signal stalk and ignition key to add or subtract time in 12 second increments.

And...

Directional Park Lights

TapTurn lets you light corner markers on one side of the vehicle or the other simply by using the signal stalk while parked. When the vehicle is off, engaging the signal stalk left illuminates the left front and rear signal bulbs steadily (not blinking). Bulbs stay lit until the signal stalk is returned to center position so you can leave the car parked this way. Same story goes for the right side of the vehicle by engaging the signal stalk right while parked.

Directional Park lights are commonly found in European makes and provide a good parking aid for narrow streets where only one side of the car needs its markers lit. 4-way parking lights can still be used when all corners of the vehicle need to be lit - just use your parking light switch as you would normally. 4-way parking lights can be used in combination with Directional Park lights, if you like.

Didn't know what to do about pricing for new features... So I left it alone. These are "free" additions and now just part of any TapTurn you buy, with StrobePack or the vanilla one too. Extra toppings to make the deal taste even sweeter!

Cheers
Scott

How many more options can you pack in to this little unit! Nice work, love my TapTurn with the strobe option. But dang I sure could use that extra lighting option in my non lit garage (more like a shed)

Depending on when you bought the first, I could possibly do a software upgrade for the one you have. You cover the shipping two ways and a bit for my labour and you'd be up to speed. PM me if interested.

Uhmm... Re: packing stuff in. I'm currently running out of unique things that can be done with the fixed number of inputs to the flasher and states of operation. Which is perfect because I'm running out of code space too in the microcontroller chosen. But that can be solved with a more spacious MCU. I think the limiting factor is user interface, which is getting pretty cram packed. Must keep everything simple to do to keep the product usable. That's the tricky part!!

Cheers
Scott

Should mention one thing, anybody who has already made an order and doesn't have their unit yet will be receiving the new features mentioned (directional park and arrival lights) as a nice surprise.

I flipped over to the newer product line early in this month (March 2014) and just started shipping the updated features without having made any announcements of the new capability.

Know what is crazy? That it costs more to ship within Canada, the country you and I are in, than it costs you to ship to the states or the rest of the world...

I know, eh? I can't do basic shipping by post to Canadians for less.

But at least Canadians get a tracking number... whereas this costs more for USA destinations.

So if you compare apples to apples, it's actually cheaper for Canadians for equivalent level of service (tracking). It's just that there's no cheaper option for Canadians, and there ought to be, you'd think. Because it's less distance.

Is this one of the reasons why Canada Post is going down the tubes?
Maybe..

I questioned Canada post on this once. Here's the gist of it. The cost of delivering the parcel (on the receiving end) is the bigger chunk of the overall cost of the service. It's not the cost of accepting the parcel (which is the same in all cases no matter where in the world it's going to). Acceptance is cheap. In Oh! Canada! ...far and wide... (you know the song) it's expensive to get things into the remote nooks and crannies of the country. These costs are averaged into the service. But there's also a fuel surcharge meant to help put costs where they belong.. Short story, it's expensive to deliver in Canada because of less dense populations and the expanse of the country. Whereas, USA is more densely populated and and less sparse... more efficiencies gained in the delivery. And that's why it's more expensive to send things within Canada versus across the border.
