The point is, the toyobaru cars are fun as is for a LOT of stuff, not just mountain turns and concours, but to say that they aren't designed for quarter mile is silly, because really there's no off the lot car truly designed for quarter.

This is my view on sporty or sports cars. I want the BEST all around car drivable on pump gas...

The fools that are running 110 octane race fuel and 200 shots of nitrous are ridiculous to call that a street car.

That's NOT a street car.

I think the best you could hope for out of a DD is 10 second quarters and the ability to make crazy fun runs on the track.

I'd be happy to just be able to smoke any nonmodified car on the street.

I think for that I need to be in the mid 11's in the quarter. Now more realistic for this car with streetable setups is low 12's but even that puts you up there with almost any car you could run into.

So why knock on the people that want to turn this into a super car that can do anything. ??? because like I said, with 300 whp, it approaches that and with 400+whp, it surpasses it...

Back on topic, This afternoon I had a friggin chevy malibu that I had passed earlier, not racing by or anything, I just drive faster than most, no matter what I"m driving, come flying up on me from the lane next to me.

He had no where to go, so he jumped onto the offramp and cut off a truck and went across two lanes to get in front of the car in front of me. The funny thing is, I could have easily gone around the car in front of me when I first saw him coming up and left him with no where to go in my rear view, but it wasn't worth the bother.

Worst is when I'm cruising on the highway and some other half-modded car spots my car... Proceeds to get in front and I can see them sizing my car up... Looking for front mount etc... When they realize my car is just NA... They start instigating...

Then I take the exit ramp and they can't keep up.

Other day, leaving work, 2-wide one way, doing a legal 35mph, Camaro is in the left lane matching my pace when we enter a pretty tight left turn. If it were posted, I'm guessing it would be with a yellow 15-20 mph sign.

Anyhow, I'm on the outside, minding my own business.

He falls back as we enter the turn.

Then just as we exit, he tries to catch up and gets himself embarrassingly out of shape. Almost wagged right into me but he pulled it together. I kinda looked at him with that "WTF?" look. He just looked away and punched it.

Heh heh heh...

It is my understanding that you could buy one from any dealership. It is really a Mopar Challenger Drag Pak though.

Ford and Dodge dealerships. No they aren't going to have 20 of them at every dealership, not even sure if they still make them, but dealerships did order them and had them on their floors.

These cars are sold from the factory as drag cars. That is exactly what they were made for. They come track ready gutted and caged slicks and all. Also I believe the Mustang came with a parachute too.

I'm the IT director for an auto group, we have 3 CJDR stores, a chevy store, honda, VW, toyota, and buick/GMC. We used to have a Ford store, but that's a different story.

If there are packages like that, I want to know about them!!!!

I live in a big city but remain on the outskirts. Challenges are infrequent, but I get a kick out of them. I don't feel comfortable exceeding the speed limit, but I like to see and hear different cars take off. I'm one of the guys who will get up next to a Porsche or a sport bike and hang with him, just with hopes that he will gun it and I'll catch the exhaust note, or see just how much faster it is. Just this morning I was rolling towards a red light and got the jump on a s197. We didn't break the law, but it was nice to start the day off with the roar of American Muscle. It is more entertainment than ego for me.

If that's the case, then how does that change my original point that there are no unmodified street cars designed for the quarter>???

Not much in the way of challenges around here from other sports cars, but it seems every soccer mom in a minivan is out for blood.

Just had my car 3 days when had my first "incident". Was driving out of Stratford where the city road turns to highway and stopped at the last traffic light for miles. An OLD WRX pulls up beside me. After chuckling at the duct tape holding his window up I realized he was starting to rev. Couldn't resist so gave him one short hit of about 4000 on my TRD exhaust. At that point looked in my mirror and saw a very familiar black Charger behind him. (You can probably figure out where this is headed already!)
So... the light changes and he floors it creating a massive cloud of blue smoke from his exhaust (not a mosquito left alive for miles afterward) and takes off with a horrid wailing sound. I just start out as normal, the Charger pulls up beside me, the COP gives me a big grin and a thumbs up and takes off. Went back past 1/2 an hour later just in time to watch them loading the WRX onto a flatbed and wave to it's driver sitting in the back of the cruiser.

I have 3 particular "race" stories

I was at a red light at the bottom of a two lane road. This road snakes up a hill and has a few wide turns. Shifting lanes like on a track, a Brz could probably do over 100mph

A mid 2000's Acura tailgates me me and then speeds off... Needless to say, he was understeering at the first turn and I left him in the dust at a moderate pace...

Same road, going the opposite direction. Similar vehicle but slightly modded. I roll off from 4th, and And the same thing. My Brz's rear end is wagging slightly, and he slams his brakes and is in the other lane... His license plat said "amdrift" More of a "race me bro" encounter than a douche encounter

I was driving home from work one day and a Volvo C30 was following me. I had the feeling that he would drive as fast as I would no matter what speed I went, and he did. I went around a turn at a Brz friendly speed, and his front end was scraping the the road and he was in the other lane. This one definitely made me laugh

I guess people have something to prove. I enjoy spirited driving, but only on certain roads at certain times etc... I'm typically driving the speed limit when this stuff happens
