"Hi, Mrs Saleswoman.. Yes, my name is xxx and I have a deposit in on the BRZ. I just wanted to clarify something with you if possible. My understanding is that my price on the car will be MSRP including destination. Is this correct? The reason I ask is that I would not pay more than MSRP and I would be very unhappy to find out later that your dealership is expecting a markup over that price. If that were the case I would cancel my order and find another dealership. If that has to happen, I'd much rather do it now so that I can get a good place in line rather than having to wait much longer. Thank you!".
Very well said. I will just go in there and ASK

My suggestion is really just to decide exactly what you think the car is worth and what you are willing to pay. If the dealer comes in under that amount or matches then you have a deal. If they ask more than your predetermined limit then try to bargain or walk. My opinion is that paying MSRP and giving the dealer nearly $2000 profit seems rather generous for a Subaru.

So you are advising the OP that paying MSRP for the car is unfair? You do realize that 98% of the people on this forum are paying MSRP and are happy about it. If you are telling the OP that he should pass on the deal if he doesn't get a discount off of MSRP, then he will most likely not be able to buy the car. I'm not saying it's impossible to find a dealer who will go under, but it's not likely.

I would advise the OP to not listen to your opinion since it's been bad two times in a row now..

Personally I would approach buying a BRZ the same as buying any other Subaru, as the purchase being a negotiation. NWIguy seems to be scared that the dealer might ask more than MSRP, but it works two ways. If a seller might think a car is worth more than MSRP, a buyer can also think a car is worth less than MSRP. I get that you believe the BRZ is worth every cent of MSRP and only 2% of people could ever be so brazen to consider offering less on a new Subaru. If he thinks the car is worth MSRP that's fine, but from a buyer's perspective I don't see the point of suggesting that negotiations should start as MSRP being the absolute lowest offer.

For any other car I would completely agree with you. But, given the hype and attention that the BRZ is getting.. coupled with the very low supply, it's no wonder some dealerships are asking for premiums over MSRP. Given this situation, i don't think many people will have luck getting under MSRP. But, I guess it does't hurt to ask...

I personally see MSRP as a fair price for a car in its first year of production prior to year end close outs and assuming its selling fairly close to expected. However, every year after that its expected to be less than MSRP and up to negotiation if its not something special along the lines of say an STi or other special edition that is truly limited in production (i.e. i would consider limited at or less than 10% of total volume made that year, in this instance assuming 6,000 brz special edition would need to be available of less than 600 to be worth paying "limited quantity prices").

They didn't even ask me what options i wanted to add.
Yes, I added an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with homelink and a rear bumper appliqué.

I also want to throw it out there that when they released the pricing for this car in early april i called the saleswoman i talked to and asked if she have any updates about pricing. At first she said no and probably after a few seconds she told me to hold on(probably checked out the fax machine) and said she just received a memo listing all the price. So i asked her the price of the car i pre ordered and it was the exact same thing on the site and forum. Is that a good sign? At least she didnt tell me any extra fees after asking "thats it right"? She only said plus tax which is a given :/

Don't hesitate to ask whatsoever. I straight up asked the rep at Northtown auto, and everything is still going swimmingly.

Here's how you word it: This car will be sold at MSRP, correct?

Or if you're brave enough: What kind of discount can I expect to see?
