I feel honored.

Oh and look at the Camaros hood. See?
The fender on the S4? It doesn't reflect off corners/curves good, it looks like a bad paint job in those areas.

That dip is color-changing. Looks horrible, but not because its dip.

I say to each their own.

But in my opinion, those dipped cars do not look good. It doesn't look satin, and It doesn't look matte. And those "Good" jobs in my opinion still makes me ask "Why did they do that"?

I kind of understand wanting to protect your paint. But whats the point of protecting a paint-job that no one is going to be able to see anyway?

Re-sale, sure. But* if I were going to that extreme, I'd dip the car, drain all the fluids, and then garage it for 30 years. :P

No i meant the bottom S4. No wait that's an A4 with S4 wheels...

Look at the front fender, see the curve? You can see it looks off.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Honestly surprised I didn't get more insults lol.

I guess my main problem is that currently my car isn't garaged. I live in an apartment complex and work at a place with a tiny, cramped and full parking lot. In the 6 months I've had the car, I've gotten more scratches than I can keep up with. It's been backed into, and I'm still having issues with the fucking horrible job a "shop" did with the paint when fixing a fender that got ruined in a wreck around March.

I will likely never sell this car. It was my dream car and I couldn't really see myself letting it go, since it's the first one I actually bought brand new, and the first I picked out for myself and with my own money.

That being said, I want to play around with the paint. I'd like to try a matte black, even though a lot of people hate it. May even do a wrap later on when I've decided on a color. I'm not expecting to be able to swap around colors like new shoes obviously, but I do want to give it an extra little personal touch with a unique color.

I think I am gonna go for it.

i recommend checking out a plastidip car in person before making a decision. they look and feel cheap. a "good photo" can make most cars look better than they do in real life...whether it's painted, vinyl, or dipped.

Another option you have is dipping the entire car in clear plastidip. It'll be just like adding a 2nd clear coat. That will help you protect the paint incase you end up not liking how the colors look.

I dipped my old bugeye white. It looked pretty good from a distance, up close it looked like crap and was a pain in the ass to keep clean (although cleaning it is really easy, just pour simple green on and rinse). A few other annoying bits: door jambs and engine bay will remain original colors, which looks goofy. Door jambs will inevitably get some overspray, which will take you FOREVER to get cleaned out if you do ever peel the dip. Dipped paint is super easy to fix should you permanently stain it (only thing I found that damaged it was gasoline) - just give it a few coats over whatever section and it blends right in. You will need to cover all the black trim pieces with tape, peeling just that off took me a VERY long time and was a huge PITA. It will not come out perfect like in the videos and pics you see online, it just won't. It'll come out good, but not perfect. That bugs some people. If I think of anything else, I'll add to this.
