I have notice that with most cars now-a-days the manual's are
way more problematic than the auto's. I hope the manual guys who buy the FRS/BRZ don't encounter the same shit that plague other sporty cars.

highest recorded 2zz-ge na was a 2.1L stroker, stage 3 cams, custom intake headers, custom exhaust headers, test pipe, 14.2:1 compression ratio,ect , ect, ect,ect running 28xwhp

after 220 whp in a 2zzge it gets hard to make more power because of the flow rates of the head, where k20s where lots better...

ohh yeah and that 28x whp celica had a 12k rpm redline

Although I agree that many Mustangs drivers are young hooligans, apparently the MT82 Tranny Failure Issue was a real big one. The NHTSA had an investigation into it, but nothing ever tends to come out in the consumer's favor in these things...

thank you, its not just a small problem, if it wasnt i would be sitting in a new mustang... theres a class action lawsuit against ford right now aswell

I thought it was a synchro/lubricant issue that could be solved in a lot of cases with a friction modifier? But I guess they keep on trying to make changes to the tranny, so maybe they realize something is seriously wrong. Any other cars you guys can think of that have these sorts of problems? It seems so odd that something as simple as a manual transmission could go so wrong.

yeah my friend told me that royal purple had a write up that fixes the syncro issue , but it still means they are weak(from my perspective) and would go out around 50k-80k miles

Ive been on newcelica.org enough to know carbon is full of shit. Where your dyno plot for that 220whp run? Theres guys on there with fully built, stroker motors hoping for that much.

DD preformance hit around 227whp on their 107F test day, 235whp on a 87F day, and with the long runners they broke 250whp from what i remember,

i dont feel like running to the shop to prove you wrong, i havnt run those maps in about 8 months, sold my exhaust headers test pipe and cold air for a trd exhaust for my fr-s

dyno of their short runner 107F dyno run, if youve ever dynoed your car at 107F you know it effects your hp numbers

So the most basic of upgrades, got your car to 220whp, but your saying a speed shop, with a built engine, is struggling for 230whp. What kind of speed shop would even tune a car in 107 degree temps?

Things dd preformance had I didnt 14.0:1 pistons stage 3 cams, they pushed 15more whp than I did...

In all honesty, if you can get a brand new Mustang GT with 412hp and that will out corner the BR-Z and FR-S all day long, you should get that. The 5.0 is very impressive, and pulls just shy of a G on the skidpad. Just got back from test-driving the V6 with performance package and I gotta say it makes a huuuuge difference from the regular V6. Wouldn't even consider the base V6 after I test-drove it recently, but the V6 with PP is certainly a contender. The 3.31 gears really wakes the car up. My one main issue with both V6's I drove is the shifter...it just felt really clunky and reluctant to shift. When I drove the GT this didn't seem to be an issue...are these different shifters/clutches/trannys?

ended up buying a new 2012 v6 stang about a month ago (the day after they announced the FRS price actually lol). stickshift with 3.31 gears, a lil spoiler and a stripe. 23k OTD is what sold me. the live axle moves around on fast corners that have alot of broken asphalt. and the shifter initally requires a firm nudge into 1st and 2nd, but its gotten smoother after 2000 miles. otherwise there have been no rattles or weird noises and everything works great. 2013's r probably coming in now so if u can get a 2012 for under 23, i would totally recommend that

By comparing performance numbers, its an easy decision - choose the Mustang for bang for the buck value.

If you test drive, it will definitely be a tougher decision. I drove a GT, and could not even come close to enjoying how it felt on the road - the weight was a killer for me. Tight, twisting roads on Vancouver Island felt downright dangerous. I'll wait to drive the BRZ...
