Not so much bragging rights. Just wondering what gives you the best quality, most horsepower, and not cost an arm and a leg.

Unfortunately, when you're looking at boosting an NA engine, the arm and the leg are already presumed to be collateral. And usually as a down payment, not the full amount.

That said, you really can't go wrong with most of the names mentioned above. They all turn out great products, it's just a question of where you want to end up and how you want it tuned. There's also the decision of turbo or supercharger? Both work very well on this car.

If you really want to go FI, I would probably look at one of the prepackaged kits from the vendor section and then have it installed and dyno tuned by a reputable shop. Personally, I would do a conservative tune as opposed to a crazy bleeding-edge tune, just to build in a reliability buffer.

IMO - if you want stage 1 FI done right - get ready to spend 8K. Roughly. That means pro install by a reputable shop with a dyno and a master tuner who has a great track record.

For that, you will have the best chance of getting a safe increase in HP/TQ. can you get it done for less? Yup. can it be done right for less? Yes.

I look at it as a risk reduction process. I am willing to pay more for a pro to do this. Someone with a bunch of BRZ/FRSs under their belt. And even then - go a bit conservative to start and play with it from there.

But - even getting to 280HP on this car breaks it. Imagine that much more HP on those perfectly matched skinny little tires... You are going to change them - right? What the heck, get the wheels too.... And what about that ride height? Lowering? It all starts to tumble.

That's the fun! Alas, "arm and a leg" is relative but this can be an expensive process.

Good luck with your build!

Or for less hp but also less risk and less money, you could run E85 on an NA engine. People are hitting 200 whp on that. That's a sizeable increase over a car that is 200 crank hp from the factory.

But yeah, it all snowballs. More power? Gotta have better tires to put the power down. And better suspension. And additional cooling. Might as well get better and lighter wheels to free up the power your have. And a CF driveshaft and lightweight pulleys. A new clutch with a lightweight flywheel. Better brakes to stop the more power. Lighter brakes. Less rotating weight means more power to the ground.

Plus maintenance. Something in the drivetrain breaks? That's expensive, and the dealer won't touch it. You have to pay to play, and sometimes it costs a LOT.

I'm not trying to scare you away, just letting you know what you could be getting yourself into.

I was being sarcastic since the OP didn't have the time/knowledge/reading comprehension to do the research himself. Figured someone like that would be the right fit for Toni and the boys.

Are you going to build the engine? What's your end goal for the car, and what's your budget?

Any of the available turbo kits can make more hp than the stock engine can handle, so it's not a question of which kit can make the most hp. The turbo being used limits ultimate hp, but most kits give you choices depending on your hp goals.

You NEED to figure out what you want from the car, figure out your budget, then find a kit/tuner that works for both. For the costs, if you estimate what you think it should cost, double that to get a more realistic figure.

No no no, fast cars can't handle well. It's just not the way things work. Never mind cars like porsches and corvettes. It's either one or the other.

It's little man syndrome. People will belittle what they don't have and overly inflate the importance of what they do have so they feel better about not having both.

I would love having 300 whp in this car, I think it would be an absolute blast. On the other hand, one of the draws when I bought this was the fact that it's NA and I don't have to worry about a turbo shitting itself. So I wil accept not having 300 whp.

You could wait till more parts are produced and make more power na, and if your still not happy go with avo turbo, 300whp on this is way to much idc what people say its just too much for street use! So more power - stay na no e85 neeeded, want more than 200 wheel go with a turbo, want your motor blown to peices go fa20club!

I think people seem to forget that the throttle is not a switch it's a variable device. I have 500whp and I can still drive around like it has 160 you just don't mash your foot to the floor in the middle of the corner, which you shouldn't do anyway. Would i be faster if i did coilovers and other suspension tunning surely but i don't have a track that's less than 5hrs from me.
