well i sat and stared at it for awhile. The 19 row oil cooler is just a bit large for what i wanted to do and the fbm intake would be sucking heat off of it.

I did manage to build fins from the end tanks of my intercooler straight up to above my crash beam with panels on the side that block off the far left and right of the grill. When you install the fbm kit you lose the factory ones. This will prevent air from bleeding over the intercooler pipes and/or around the endtanks. I also stuffed all the sides with foam so it seals against the front grill.

I really want to make the upper oil cooler location work but its tight with my air filter there. It would have to have the oil cooler fittings angled between the crash beam and the ac condenser with the core angled forward. The air would travel up the crash beam, through the core and over the top of the radiator under the rad support. But its tight. The fog light location looks pretty good if you can vent the air out of there which shouldnt be too hard either but it more than doubles the cost of braided lines.

Good luck with your build, the area above my intercooler is pretty wide open since the turbo location isn't anywhere near there. I'm actually just going to buy a 19-row Mishimoto oil cooler off Summit (with -10AN hoses) for $100-150, and then strap it (or weld) to the top of the intercooler. I'm really not interested in buying a $600 kit that does the same exact thing. Of course I'll have to buy the $150 sandwich plate adapter, but I'm still saving ~$300.

Wait till you see the price of braided hose. Also don't forget the extremely odd size fittings required for the oil sandwich plate.

I've got -10AN stainless hose already (tons leftover from my oil drain setup). Along with the oil cooler and sandwich plate both being -10AN. So I'm good to go.

This is what I've got for now, going to look more before I buy though.

I was surprised most sandwich plates are not -10. They are 1/2 bsp

Maybe try out this setup then, it looks pretty good man! High quality, everything the same size fittings, half the price (maybe a tad more). Looks like a win to me.

@protpibe I couldn't seem to get mine to fit. I was looking closely at it and even if I trimmed the pipe part of it completely off, I don't see how I could get it in there.

My oil cooler sits further back than yours I think. Mine is actually touching the fender liner. If I try to put something in there I feel like my tire would rub even more than it does now.. lol.

What did you use to mount it to the fender liner? I'm concerned about clearance.

You have the FBM cooler as well? Mine has a bunch of clearance, but it's angled so the vent itself has to be offset. There's a bunch of room back there though

I mounted it with screws, glue, and silicone. It hasn't moved a millimeter since install a few thousand KM ago, and it's been through rain storms and track time.

I'm running the Full Blown radiator, shroud, and I've moved the radiator forward a bit.

Without the stock foam air dams, there's a LOT of room above the radiator, perfect for an oil cooler.

I just ordered some fog light delete bezels for my BRZ. The plan is to modify the passenger side one to allow air flow.

I would like to know what others are doing to battle the heat that builds up in the engine bay.

Today I went with a few others on a mountain run and when we started going up hill and through the turns I noticed my temps started to raise. I pulled over before I got to hot and had to cool down. In fact I had to do this a few times before turning around and going down hill. Down hill was fine but I was coasting more then I was boosting so I think that had a big role I'm keeping temps down. On the highway I seem to be fine unless running it hard.

I have for cooling help
Full Blown radiator
Mishimoto oil cooler
Exhaust wrapping from manifold through the down pipe.
No bottom metal skid panel
And the fog lights removed to provide air to the oil cooler.
Braided hoses for oil and coolant.

Running full blown stage 1 kit
On order turbo heat cover by DEI
What were your oil temps on the hill climb?

I have a custom setup. It's a 19 row Mishimoto cooler. How thick is your cooler? Mine is fairly thick and the inlet nozzle is almost touching the turn signal bulb connector, and the back is just about flush with the fender liner, maybe even pushing it out a little. Maybe i'll see if I can mount it a little better one of these days.
