Should have bought a boat!!!!

So i got off of work and was driving home in the rain. Now its been rain for two days.... So half way through a puddle a lake i mean, my car died. I immediately got out and pushed it through the rest of the way. No water got in my car, but In my freak out i tried to start it, it turned over once then stopped and i haven't tried since. My dad advised me to let it dry then try to start it, I'm not to sure about that, anyone with some advise, knowledge, or input would be much appreciated. Oh and fml.

How deep was it?

Sounds like a factory defect if you could open the door without flooding the cabin.

take the maf out and make sure its dry, if you really think you sucked in some water you need to pull the spark plugs out and crank it, let it pump the water out.

I would have the car towed to a reliable shop to have them give it a good looking over.

inspect air filter. If the filter is wet you sucked in water.

Strange, The intake is pretty high up in the bumper cover (on a pretty low car). I can't explain how you would have hydrolocked your car.

If you sucked in water then it "turned over once then stopped" you may have already killed it.
Hydrolock can very easily bend a rod.

Normally you would "Just take the plugs out" as others suggest however on this car to do that you need to lift the engine.
It would be easier to take out the DI injectors....

And if you even think you have water in the cylinders and you are tempted to just crank it, I would suggest this first:
Put the car in 5th gear ebrake off, and very gently push it.

If it turns over more than once you got the water out.
Cranking it with the starter can cause more damage than very gently pushing it in gear.
At least with my push to start button, I cant just "bump it"

Sorry to say it but it has to be hydrolock man. There is no reason the engine won't crank unless the battery is low on voltage, but that's not a cause since the car was running when it shut off on you.

ok so big correction! I did try to start it again when I woke up this afternoon (I work nights), and it did not turn over , but this is what it did when it first died in the water, so it has not turned over at all since dyeing!!. There's no way water got in the motor I do have a perrin cai on it, but even things lower in the bay were still dusty and dry on top. I want to think its electronics but everything works, the radio even picked up ma call while I was looking at it earlier(bespoke), so idk I know im taking it to a shop on Monday assuming I can get it on a trailer and ill keep it posted
