What mileage does the chirping start?

I've had my car a month and a half, 5700km Shell 91. No chirping I don't think

Car built May 2013. Only Shell 91 since Day-1, and mine has chirping. started around 2000km, now at 20,000. My Toyota dealer has been hesitant to do the TSB cause the mechanic knows it's not gonna change anything. I haven't heard any 100% positive feedback from those with newer or replaced ones.

My car built April 2012 and it STILL only chirps if I don't use Shell VPower. In fact I think I was the first to post that observation on these forums while everybody was starting to complain about how to stop it.

Using the OFT and therefore only Ultra 94. No biggie, its not like you are bleeding from your ears at a stoplight. Other makes with DI have the same sound.

Chirping started around 8,000km - dealer preformed TSB, chirping returned very shortly afterwards.

Gas doesn't seem to matter Ultra 94, Shell 91, etc. Its really only noticeable/annoying when I pull in/out of the garage with the windows down at idle.

Just rolled over 40,000km's with zero issues apart from the slightly annoying chirp, I've accepted it.

no noises out of the engine anyway, and I find the car runs a tiny bit smoother too.

I have found the cure to the the crickets. Like real life crickets, if you get near it, it stops chirping. But the second you step away, it starts again.

My car still chirps and I've had the HPFP replaced already.

Mostly Shell gas, always 91 (never 94)

BRZ Built around Aug 2012. I've had chirps develop after a few thousand miles. Now at 12k miles, I tried Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner/Upper Cylinder Lubricant (because I had it laying around) and it immediately reduced the crickets by at least 80%, adding about 2oz per tank. Once it runs out I'll try something else to see if there's any more improvement. If I don't run the Lucas, crickets are more noticeable but don't seem as loud as they used to be...

And I also understand it to only be an annoyance.

At 27k and not a single chirp yet! I've only ever filled up with Shell 91.

Mine as well, 35k, and I use 91 gas from whatever station I'm close to at the time. I've never heard anything.

I've mentioned this before but going to say it again...IMO, crickets are not detrimental to the operation of your car. However, running 91 octane on spirited driving (maybe even regular driving) will lower your IAM from knock. I've logged my IAM with Shell 91 before and it can get as low as .50. Now with Ultra94 it rarely goes below .9 on the street (has gone down to .7 at the track).

You're leaving a lot of timing on the table by running sub optimal gas.
