more coilover stuff but I need to take them into work and use the better pedestal grinder we've got here instead of the shitty little craftsman grinder I have at home to grind the strut tubes smooth so the perches will press on.

fuck harbor freight tools. if you have this jack replace the screws on the roller with real m10-1.5 x 20mm SHCS, and use flat washers instead of the harbor freight washers, assemble with loctite, and actually torque them. when these screws back out the jack can tip over which sucks.

fucked around with the JZ a little. got the auto trans off and stored it away in the basement in case I ever NA-T the gs300, removed the torque converter. that little rubber plug on the bottom of the block to get at those sucks ass. fuck that thing. from looking at it IRL, I feel like a button flywheel over the stock flexplate would be swell. I'll make a trip over to my parent's house soon to grab the slowstice trans so I can test fit it to the motor. vorschlag is using a tremec magnum XL in their LSx swap, and the solstice trans shifter extension is similarly long, so hopefully it'll wind up in the ballpark.

then my plumbing backed up and at 1030 last night I had to try and drain dirty ass grey water out from the cleanout which happens to be directly above where the infiniti m30 is stored in my basement. and it didn't work. so now I need to work 12 hours, go home, and play in shitwater again and try augering the main drain and then strugglefuck the cleanout back together because after I took it apart it started leaking. so instead of BRZ stuff I'll be doing that.

If you know megasquirt language go with that right from the get go. I have a megasquirt on my Minibusa and love it. But it can be a nightmare if you've never tuned one.

EMS is still up in the air, it totally depends on how much money is in my checking account when I get to that point. Since I'm running 93 in it and stock injectors and turbo at first, there's really nothing wrong with the stock ECU. I'll pick up an SAFC and a boost controller so I can get a little extra power out of it, then wait until I have money for cams, turbo, injectors, and AEM EMS. Megasquirt is cool, but the nice megasquirt gets reaaaallly close in price to AEM series 2. Not sure if there's any huge advantage with squirt over AEM at that point either. I know it's probably going to be easier to find tuners to do AEM.

I need to borrow a hanging scale so I can weigh the vvti 1jz. I have a hard time believing the single turbo engine is *that* heavy in comparison to an ls1 swap. the 1jz is long, but not that much longer than the big GM v8, and I'm sure there's less material in the 1jz block, despite the fact that it's iron instead of aluminum. the rotating assembly undoubtedly weighs less, and the vvti only has a relatively compact single turbo setup instead of twins like the other JZ motors.

the transmission I'm using is ~20lbs lighter than a t56. I'm ditching a/c, but I will be running hydraulic power steering so that may add a little bit of weight. my downpipe will shave a little bit off versus the stock cast piece, I won't be running the stock mechanical fan, and if I go with a button flywheel and a smaller twin or triple clutch, it'll save a few pounds.

I'll be interesting to see some actual numbers, that's for sure.

Kickstarter would probably be simpler. Plus you could put items in there for people to buy. Like $5 donation for an accessory, etc.

Also, sub'd

Crowdfunding this build would be hilarious. I need to fix my vinyl cutter.

moved some stuff around, BRZ is now inside so it'll be slightly more convenient to work on, and the neighbors hopefully won't bitch about it anymore. engine is in the basement so I can put it on a stand and possibly do a few things to it. infiniti is now outside, I need to take my knuckles off of it and swap my friend's suspension onto it so I can trade him the car for a set of wheels and hopefully sell my coilovers off of it for some BRZ money

obligatory shot of 1jz dangerously close to brz

Pipe Dreams ┼ Poor Life Choices ≈ WIN!

Nice decisions, really.

That particular car, can't wait.

Will you share the cost?
