As others have said, that $350 quote seems ridiculously high

I will be showing the header to the coating guy tomorrow. I'll get more specifics and an exact price tomorrow.

I've had my JDL UEL for a year and got the chrome ceramic coating they offered for $150 more. It's still not chipping to this day and still looks fantastic.

I say go with the ceramic coating. Very noticeable difference and you can actually grab the header a min or two after turning off the car with gloves on. It does its job.

I called the header manufacturer and they said use heat wrap. Ceramic coatings will void their warranty but heat wrap won't. So I guess heat wrap it is.

If you chose the +2200 stuff for the outside and coat the inside with the fire retardant type, you may even be able to touch it without gloves.

That would be nuts. I know this is just coated on the outside, but it's definitely working. I have my overpipe coated as well. Everything past that is regular since the temps drop quickly past that point.

That is very high. Our ceramic coating company does our manifolds for at least half that, maybe less.

Yeah, the inside isn't coated and no idea what kind of coating is on the outside.

No, the inside does not get coated. And it's ceramic. Are you wondering what brand or something?

It doesn't get better than this place: http://www.performancecoatings.com/
I had my race header on my track Rx-7 that was tuned for peak power with 13.7:1 AFRs and 2100* exhaust temps. I used the 2000* satin black velvet ceramic coating. They coated the inside and outside of the header; after a dyno run I could touch the thing with my bare hands; under hood temps dropped over 20; all this for under $120.

I miss her... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdmIgmxvjuc"]190whp NA FB going to the moon bitches - YouTube[/ame]
