Are the gaskets that come with the header crappy and causing the leaking? Would OEM gaskets fit?
What's involved with eliminating the CEL? I'm iffy about a tune BC I don't want my car to get messed up and/or lose my good mpg. Is there any other way? |

The best way to eliminate leaking or keeping good MPG is don't do anything, keep it stock, and call it a day.

The majority of tuning options out there will improve the stock tune and MPG. Untuned bolt-one will be the thing that wastes money and reduces driveability.

The tuning platforms that are becoming prominent for the '86 are ECUTek & OpenFlash, with BRZEdit and Unichip being more sparsely seen. From scratch a ECUTek solution is going to run $800-$1200, OpenFlash about $550- $600. The differences between the two are beyond this conversation. I run OpenFlash and am extremely satisfied. ECUTek is awesome as well. Either one will do. Last edited by DAEMANO; 07-15-2014 at 04:47 PM. |

Are there any other ways to fix a CEL besides a flash? I'm not looking to get a few hp for $500-$1000, all I want is no CEL.

I would not do a catless header without a tune. And I would do a tune before spending a penny on a header. . Openflash stg 1 is your best bang for the buck.
