Unlike the models you mentioned, the FR-S is a model (just like tC)... it's not like there is going to be an FR-2 (impreza/lancer) and an FR-S (significantly upgraded, like a STI / Evo).

I was looking at the 370Z several weeks back. 370z base, sports package, touring, touring w/sports package, 40th, Nismo. I asked about the Sports Pkg but without the wheels (could have cared less for the wheels since they are ugly). They couldn't change anything up. I drove the thing, wasn't too impressed and now Mossy won't leave me alone!
This.

Less fluff, more substance.

True, but when some moron try to race you in the street, surely they'll regret racing you cuz they can't tell the difference between base & higher end trim. lol

Hey, what's wrong with you people? This car started as a simple and lightweight sports car, not as a big GT for old people. Nobody needs heavy and useless trim packages, there will probably be a TRD/G's tuned one that will have some changed body kit pieces, more power and that's it. This should be a car for people who enjoy driving fast, not for those who wanna show off their car at the golf club. You are a silly dreamer if you imagine that this car would be produced in Civic numbers worldwide.

True, nobody needs heavy and useless trim packages but sales dictate otherwise and they more than likely will! This prototype looks light but after it gets up to spec with the D.O.T then it won't be light (dual airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags etc)

If it's going to be TRD, it's probably going to be mostly cosmetic and if they do offer engine items, its going to be in their accessory page (TRD s/c)

If the price range is in the mid to upper 20K and depending on first year sales success, I'm almost certain this car will be played out AND at every car show "hella flushed"

Hmmm... Think about the logical implications of what you typed...

It would be nice if there were subtle differences like the evos, sti's, and even civic si's. For example, the base could have red tail lights and the top model have a black tail light housing. Maybe offer some nicer paint for the higher end models (ie: dark blue for base, lighter metallic for the top model). Toyota won't do anything drastic, though I do know that the base Rav4 and high end Rav4 have different front bumpers. Of course if Toyota just puts a turbo in their top model and change nothing else I would be more than happy!

Bah, all that is more of an excuse for Toyota to charge more money for less content...
