Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I just got my BRZ and found this thread helpful for the EQ settings. Might be nice to have it back at the top for new owners.

Did we ever get clarification on SVC and ASL? Since ASL has Off-Low-Mid-High I assume it's either for automatically adjusting the volume based on speed or it's a "loudness" setting. My current money is on speed control.

Since the SVC goes from -20 to +20 I assume it's to adjust the source inputs so when you switch between sources the relative volume is the same.

Am I on track, or is SVC for speed control (seems like way too wide a range/too many settings for this)?

ASL is for Speed Control. The faster you go, the louder the volume gets to compensate for road noise.

SVC controls your Device Input Volume. If your iPod or something sounds too low then you can raise this setting towards +. The only issue I have with doing this is that I've noticed I'm not able to completely silence my music unless the SVC setting is on 0. If I have it set to even +1 then when I turn my volume all the way down I will still slightly hear audio.

I've tried the EQ settings in this thread and wasn't very pleased. It might just depend on the type of music you listen to. I found a different thread that gave me much better results. I'll post a link if I come across it.

EDIT: Found the EQ settings that I've been using.

Will these settings reduce the buzzing caused by the bass from the front speakers? Usually happens during my morning sports radio.

I tried similar settings on my Pioneer unit (I have a Canadian BRZ), sounded muddy to me. Am I missing something?

Probably not.
Sound is very subjective.
Here's mine just for comparisons sake.
I listen to mostly rock/metal/alternative so take that into consideration I suppose.

I found that I have to have different EQ settings for music vs podcasts--some of the podcasts are heavy on bass and would rattle the speakers if I didn't change the settings. It's a pain, but I switch back and forth between two primary EQ profiles.

It may be a difference in the head units. Since yours is a Pioneer it may process the signal differently than the headunits in the US BRZs, requiring different EQ settings.

Thanks for the clarification and setting ericmpena, I'll give them a shot. Question: What's the difference between raising everything like you did versus leaving the lowest frequencies (100 & 2.5k) at 0 and raising everything else up proportionally (so 160 would be at +2 vs. +6)?

Those of you playing with this, might be interesting to try out using android app FrequenSee and some test tones and white noise on a usb.
been playing with these in my frs last few days.

I took a sample reading of a white noise sample in my hifi set up. Did the same in the BRZ and edited the EQ to match as close as I could.

Rough EQ but the car equipment isn't exactly hi-fi either.

EQ Happiness

Using the OP settings and R2 it sounds much improved over any of the factory presets and even better than my highly skilled half deaf tweaking. IMHO, YMMV.

I have 2 10" subwoofers in my trunk capable of plenty of bass. While I plan on replacing the door speakers, is there any way I can remove some bass from the door speakers to prevent them from getting distorted? I listen to mostly rap/hiphop/electronic music.
