Link to FR-S standard and premium HU manual
Here are quick start guides and manuals for the standard and premium units; Bespoke is not included here.
http://www.scion.com/manuals/nav_audio/#section=audio Specs are at the back. Wattage output for standard: 4x40; for premium: 4X50. Last edited by Sport-Tech; 04-16-2012 at 02:27 AM. |

Those numbers are 'Max' output. You'd be lucky to see 15 watts from either continuously. But that's still not bad compared to some OEM HU's. I just hope there's a dash kit out quickly.

The FR-S also has a small, separate 2 ch amp that I believe powers the largest door speakers (like on the 2011+ tC). Not sure of the output though...

You're right about the interior volume having a big effect, but I'll still be mounting my amps. They don't weight much more then the spare and jack, and go in the same location, is how I'm justifying the weight to myself... |

Does anyone not see that the HU in that manual is not the bespoke unit? The bespoke HU may have different specs than the older unit in that manual.

I don't get pioneer, what's the point of having such a big touch screen and only have it display what track you're playing, was it that hard to add a gps to it?

Mr. T, please don't take this as direct at you in particular.
What the hell is so important about this god damn bespoke unit. It's a fucking stereo, IN A CAR. Why does everyone need to update their status on facebook while their driving. What are they gonna say, 'oh now I'm sitting at a red light', 'Hey now I'm shifting to third', 'Guess what everyone, I just turned on my turn signal' Seriously can someone explain why having this bespoke HU is so important that it comes up in every third thread? Personally I would hate having my drive interrupter by other peoples drivel about taking a crap or being upset at their spouse. One of the best things about driving is getting away from that shit. ... Bespoke has many functions other than twitter and facebook. Did you at least read up on what Zypr does? It hooks the car up with the internet through your phone. It can use many apps, and true it has twitter and Facebook, but that't far from the main point. Zypr are allowing programmer to combine multiple apps together for new functionality, like Facebook with GPS to find out where you're suppose to meet up with your friends, instead of stopping the car, taking out your phone, logging onto Facebook, find the location, and input it into your GPS. It also adds things like finding a restaurant and sending the location to your friends.

I definitely think it has potential, and would consider it if it did self-contained NAV. I don't want cloud based NAV.

Yeah, that's the main problem I have with bespoke too. It's too reliant on your phone for the price they are asking for. If you're traveling on some remote highway with no cellphone reception you're basically screwed, I mean that's basically what people get GPS for, to not get lost. I'm gonna stick with the crappy original head unit until they find some way to fix that. Other than that, Zypr sounds pretty good.

For Canadians it's academic anyway, the Bespoke unit not coming here (this year at least). HUs are not dealer-installed in Canada so they have to be pre-specified when ordering, and the only option is for the non_bespoke LCD unit.

Well, in this case, except telling me where to go, although if I remember correctly, she eventually even did that!

LOTD!For me the $270 I spent to upgrade I consider to be 75% an interior design/trim upgrade, the car just looks so much better without that stock unit. Going back to your analogy, for the stock HU: it's as if your first girlfriend had a horrific case of acne... |
