[QUOTE=tyrantcf;1779657]If I'm not mistaken taxes on vehicles are determined by the taxes in the area where you are a resident. For example on my bike, I paid 7.5% sales tax because that is the sales tax in Bakersfield even though I bought the bike in the inland empire area where the tax is higher. I believe this applies to out of state transactions as well, as far as vehicles are concerned but I could be wrong.[/QUOTED]
Dang my dad bought a car recently and he had to pay Cook county (Chicago, one of the highest in the nation at 9.25%). Were on the border ok Kane and Cook so he should have paid 7.25%. |

If I wasn't still paying off my S2K, I'd go for this:

I'm with you with this.
Expect to pay equivalent of 37k usd for a high spec 86 manual in South Africa. Some cars that we even build here, like hiluxes and corollas etc, are sold cheaper in other countries than they are here, where they are built on our doorstep. That's why the government stopped importing of all cars, because people would import a new South African built hilux, for less than it would sell here, even after import tax and shipping etc.

Has anyone taken delivery of a 2015 model year yet? I'm curious if they have started to really show up at dealers.

Yep they're there. I've seen em on the lots. I know Gulf States Toyota (Texas and OK) and Southeast Toyota (FL GA etc) and California have them on the lots.

Locally, a new 10 Series was for sale for $24k. Gone. A new regular 13 is advertised for $22.3k. Another dealership closer to Boston had at least 5 13's in stock with no discount advertised. I would probably grab a 13 if the price was $20k or less. Otherwise, I'm going for a 15. $3k off for what will be a 2 year old car isn't worth it, especially once you drive it off the lot.

I picked up a very lightly used '13 w/ 4k miles for $23.5k OTD. I'm sure I probably could have gotten a bit better deal, but this one was still priced about $1-2k lower than all the other used FR-S's in my area and had about half the miles or less of the others. Very happy with it, and pretty happy with the price.
