They should be using a carbon monocoque anyways as they were anticipating over 500 lbs... Heh...

Apparently our team used to use carbon fiber monocoque, but they don't have enough people to work on it and so they gave up because it was sucking too many man-hours. They also haven't tweaked the engine at all (besides installing high comp pistons since they use 100 octane fuel) because they don't have a dyno T_T Oh right, they now use 4130 tubular frame + CF/Al honeycomb panels.
However I was glad to see that FSAE rules on several things are quite lax. Air restrictor only needs to have a 20mm maximum minimum diameter, doesn't have to be a plate or whatever, so they gave it a smooth <10 degree taper, phew. Last edited by serialk11r; 04-15-2012 at 05:31 AM. |

I'm going to be looking at SCCA's A-mod rules and comparing with FSAE. A local AutoX club apparently has the fastest A-mod in North America. They use a snowmobile engine and maybe its cvt as well as about 7 wing elements... A-mod or B-mod would be a fun build.
Fuck I need a workshop...

Children that wake up at 5am for a bottle and diaper change and don't go back to sleep should at least have the common decency to SHUT THE HELL UP.

![]() Random thought, I might have to cut my hair this year. It's below my shoulders and when I'm working on my car I kept pulling it while shifting around. Plus the military doesn't allow men to have long hair.

![]() I've been thinking about getting a haircut but it's takes forever to grow long hair; 1 year to grow it out and another year to make it full bodied. Plus that short haircut look is played out, imo. |
