My advice would be stay stock, get new wheels if you don't like stock. Rock stock and save especially if you already have a car you like spending money on.

Good luck

Yeah, I've left the suspension alone on mine. I've read about guys having axles issues from simply lowering their cars. I still intend to go FI in the next few years though.

I love your 600 whp other car, by the way What'd you run on that pass where it looks like you miss 3rd?

Going coils isn't going to mean he blows axles jesus. It's about researching and investigating "how low". Quick notes stay above lowering -1.5" and you're fine. As far as other advice you'll notice there's a huge lot of options for these cars in the aftermarket scene. Take your time and do your research before jumping at anything, most of all don't be cheap on selections, do it right.

What's up with the huge amount of play in your Teg's shifter?

I agree with the mod comments above.

Once you pass break in point, you'll find it pretty fun taking to higher rpms. Grippy tires would be nice for better carving of corners, but the stocks are fun to slide around too.

I lost 3rd gear at the track that day and was only running 11's trapping near 140mph lol. It's a 10 second car but that day it did not want to play nice.

And I hear ya on spending the money and buying good parts. I have learned this throughout the years while building my Integra. I have more money into that car then the FRS is brand new lol.

I just don't like the wheel gap that much on a stock FRS but I think I will leave it alone for now. Drive the car, get used to the car and enjoy it for what it is.

Thanks again guys for your input.

Nailed it. Don't get me wrong, I love my boosted FRS. But I drove a bone stock one yesterday for a bit, and I will be completely honest, I like it better. It's quiet, doesn't drone all day when I am driving, and the stock power allows you to really toss it around without getting dangerous, yet it's still comfy and tame like a Civic if you want it to be. I know its been said on here a million times, but I truly did not respect the car for what it is until now.

Want my true advice? Unless you really like to tinker - the car is damn near perfect as is. I would drive it around for awhile and really enjoy the way you can hammer it around. It is a delicate balance.

You can noodle with an intake hose and a different air filter, etc.

I guess I am saying - if you got the car to enjoy the way it drives - do so. If you got it to fiddle with - well then you know how it goes. It is just a beautiful auto right out of the chute.

Have fun!

Hi and welcome. I suggest to take your car around some twisty roads or an autocross event. You may learn to live with the wheel gap once you see how fun and "driveable" these cars are in stock form.

Coming from a guy that used to show at Wekfest and other car shows with my old stanced/show car, I'm really learning to accept the wheel gap because of how awesome this car is in stock form engine-wise.

I am a Honda fanatic and always will be but the FRS just appeals to me. It just looks so good; however, I am not a big fan of the boxer engine... not yet at least.

I have an 8 year warranty on the car and really don't plan on breaking it. What modifications can I do to this car without voiding the warranty?

I was thinking coilovers, tires, wheels and window tint. Will either of these options void the warranty? What about exhaust?

I am not looking at forced induction right now even though I have thought about it. My Integra makes 615whp so if I want to go fast I just take that car out.

When I bought the FRS I wanted a nice looking, reliable and fun to drive DD. So far I think I have made the right decision.

Below is a picture of the car and a video of my teg :p just for the heck of it lol.

Welcome. I bought about a month ago and have about the same miles. I echo every sentiment in your post as I am struggling with mod or no mod EVERYDAY. I am coming from power too. My last car was a 414hp V8 so I feel your pain. Which leads nicely to the Boxer Engine...I hated the way it sounded initially but it is growing on me!!! I'm only wanting for about 50 more hp so I am unsure if/when I'm going to do anything engine wise. I don't wanna lose the character of the car by modding it beyond recognition. Afterall it is more fun to drive a slow car fast opposed to a fast car slow. Having said all that 2 things I did IMMEDIATELY were upgrade to 18 inch aftermarket wheels and get a TRD exhaust. All I can say is that is enough...for now. Stay tuned.

Wanna bet? My dealer is giving me the run around regarding my scratched windows because I'm boosted. It all depends on the dealer, some may no care if it has a v8 in it and another may deny you if you revved it over 4000rpm

How does that exhaust sound? I want something that is conservative but still makes a nice sound. I am so sick of driving loud cars around. So I really don't want to hear my exhaust that much for a DD but I do want to "free" up some exhaust noise??? If you know what I am saying lol. Plus the sock exhaust tops are super small compared to the large bumper cutouts for them.

There are a lot of videos in the exhaust thread to give you an idea of what sound you will get with the various exhausts available.

My car came with the Borla axel back exhaust. I have to say I really like them for my driving. The car has a nice growl when you start it but then goes pretty quite once the idle drops down so I can drive through my neighborhood at 5:00 am without waking the neighbors. Once on the highway if I get on it it has a nice throaty sound. At least to me.

Car is 6 months old and my only mod plans are new wheels and tires and eventually the FT86 Speed Factory catted headers. According to the SF guys this will not increase my exhaust volume much at all but will remove the torque dip which I have noticed when I open it up on GA 400 in the wee hours of the morning on my way to work.

The TRD is perfect for this car IMHO. It's bassy not boomy without being obnoxious. It's perfect if you just want more of the appropriate sound. Doesn't sound "manufactured" or "artificial" either. I don't do obnoxious on 4 cylinders so this was exactly what I looking for particularly since/when I was looking for something to compliment the engine a little better too. I had narrowed it down to CORSA and TRD and since I flaked on BeSpoke audio I was owed by the dealer the TRD became a no-brainer. Warranty was also a small factor. 9 outta 10 ppl on here love the TRD but it is pricey and feel that's the reason they don't get more play. The Corsa is one of the more expensive systems too an honestly sounds a little better but having that dealer credit swung the pendulum to TRD. Listen to some vids on here before you buy...I DID!
Good luck!
BTW, any aftermarket exhaust will fill in the cutouts in the diffuser...which I also hated and thought was the single dumbest thing they did to the car besides not give it the STI motor but that I can live with...for now.

Borla sounds VERY GOOD and was on my short list as well. I bought aftermarket wheels the first day I had the car but had to wait for the exhaust.
Congrats and good luck.
