It'll be stupidly cheap to insure for the first year. Then as people crash them, it'll skyrocket the next year.

what makes you think it will be cheap in the first year? my basis of 2k minimum premium is that its a flashy sports car, like an evo, s15 or any other import and i believe would be prone to theft which will increase the insurance premium. i could be wrong..

Non turbo no history will make insurance relatively affordable initially.

Hopefully it won't go up too much in subsequent years but being P plate legal it certainly doesn't look good...

If this car is going to be P Plate legal by the 2nd year they definitely will put it on the ban list. The way this car has been marketed it's a sure thing there's going to be dozens of write-offs in the wrong hands. Too many heros on the street.

Do Toyota's have immobilisers from factory?

the problem isnt immobilisers. its the damn thieves getting into your house to grab your laptop, wallet and keys. 3 or 4 robberies like this every day in perth :/

Yes. I have always wanted a simple, good handling sports car with enough power (not massive) that doesn't cost a lot to run and easy on fuel with space to carry kids. 86 ticks every box and the massive aftermarket support is a great bonus.

This is potentially a future classic and I want to keep it as long as I can.

I'd most likely keep it for at least 5 years and in that time hopefully developed a few new parts for it. That's if Toyota doesn't release a Turbo/Super Charged variant in the next couple of years.

Was at my cousin's house today reading MOTOR magazine that he threw at me and said "hey you're getting an 86 right?" i'm like "maybe yeah, why?" his like "might find this interesting..."

not sure if anyone here's read it yet, but in the April issue, it has 86'es and BRZs on the front page. I flicked through and it said that BRZ STi '13 and 86 TRD '13 is going to be 55k. BRZ STi Cosworth '13 and some sort of initial D special edition 86 is going to be 60k.

its all i read, i can't remember the rest. LOL!

Nice 1 Davey

So there we go, if a TRD version can be had for 55k how the hell can a high spec be 50k?

Depends on what the TRD version is i guess. I would assume a hell of a lot more then 5k worth.

Would be cheaper to build your own i rekon. I would doubt at 55k toyota would be importing the trd car, they would make needed adjustments to local delivery cars.

I posted this in another thread but thought it was worth a repeat.

Then I continued to mentioned a article which was also posted up on here about undercutting the golf and he said he hope Toyota does will make it job easier.

Subaru dealership was next door and I went in to ask about the BRZ but same story they didnt know pricing.
