i think its the fact that you have to take the wheel off to fit a wrench up there, if i remember correctly.

so, going back and forth between different threads, I am now under the impression that while the RPF1 is a good wheel, that they have a propensity to bend when certain limits are breached.

Assuming a reasonable budget (maybe $400 absolute max per wheel), what would be the top 3 wheels to buy in OEM size (17x7) that are not only lighter but also highly durable.

My personal experience for 7 years prior to the FRS has been with a Kosei K1, that wheel took more abuse than I care to remember and the thought of it bending or cracking never once crossed my mind.

The specs on the TRD springs are very similar to the Eibachs. Are they just rebranded Eibachs?

I'm not particularly fond of the looks of the RFP1's and would gladly pay more (within reason) for a lighter and stronger wheel than stock. Last meetup I went to someone mentioned some amazing wheels that I'll have to find, but IIRC they were both MUCH lighter and stronger than stock, but they were $$$$ for a set. I'll edit this post when I find them.

i think brand name plays into it as well

Speedline Corsas are strong.. but not light, or cheap!

Also my Kosei's cost me 600 used back in 2005.. which is why I've since been very price sensitive when it comes to wheels... because i had a positive experience of paying little and getting a lot back.

Evasive has Wedsport SA-15Rs in 17x7.5+45 for $289 each. They've got other decent brands to choose from, as well.

has to be specifically 17X7 for SCCA stock class.

I'm not saying the wheel is weak, though... I'm saying I'm a dirty driver at times and I want my wheels to survive serious abuse that falls outside the general intended usage.

Quick question, does the spc camber bolt go on top or bottom? Seems like spc is a rebrand whiteline...?

I wouldn't even go that far.

I'd consider driving over smooth berms "normal" for track driving, but that is enough to bend RPF1s if you're going fast enough. However, the RPF1 is still stronger than nearly every "off-brand" and replica wheels.

so what would be your two picks above an RPF1 for same level of weight but at a stronger construction? (and I'd assume more money?)

PF01s are stronger, but heavier. Enkei Japan's webpage actually has a star rating for impact strength and stiffness. http://www.enkei.co.jp/wheels/

Those new RR series of wheels are a major step up for Enkei, lighter and stronger than anything they've made before. Those GTC01RRs look impressive.
