For those interested I can give you his contact info!
Thanks for the info. I've been looking for a place to get my car washed in Austin but I don't trust anywhere. I'll try contacting him
this week.

I got a puppy last May and I agree, potty training is the worst! It just takes repetition, patience, and rewarding them for pooping outside.
Oh, and those razor puppy teeth are just as bad!

My advise for potty training would be to crate them as much as possible. That's how they learn to hold it. The only times they should be out of the crate is for exercise, eating, and pooping.

I'd always feel bad about keeping them in their crate so I'd let my dog walk around thinking nothing would happen. The second you take your eyes off of them they're getting into trouble. Never give them the chance to have an accident inside. Anytime you have the slightest feeling they may need to go outside, take them.

It took me taking my puppy outside almost every 30 minutes just to be positive that he didn't have the chance to poop inside. After a couple of dedicated months you can see a big improvement.

Good luck! Raising a puppy is a great bonding experience!

How has your Frenchie done in the heat? My parents have 3 (they've had at least six prior that I can count), but they live in CO with no humidity and constant AC. I'd love to get one (although our cats would probably disagree) but that's been my main concern.

Oh, to add to what ericmpena said, definitely do crating if you're not already doing so. Not constant, but they go to great lengths to avoid messing their area so it's a good start if you're having issues. Frenchies can be stubborn little (awesome) bastards but if they trust you they'll go a long way to appease you.

I feel too bad about crating my dog for that long of a time. He's getting a lot better about not going in the house, so any time he does go I see it as a failure on my part for not taking him out sooner. Tip: Taking him out when I wake up, before I leave for work, when I get back from work, anytime after playing, after feeding, and before crating him for the night seems to work best. He's gone from 0/4 going outside to about 7 or 8/10 now. And that's in one week.

My puppy never took to a crate, so instead I got him a heated kennel.
Initially I also wanted a frenchy, but this side they cost the equivalent of 2000 usd, so I went for a pedigree Boston terrier, got him for 4 months now and he's my buddy, cannot imagine myself without him. Potty training in the beginning was difficult, but he got it after about a month. Basically took me standing outside in the Cold waiting for him to go and then rewarding him, but you have to be so vigilant, because the moment they go inside and make a poo all your work in unravelled

@psk Tuesday or Thursday evening, like around 7pm or Friday during the day would work best for me this week. Let me know which of those would work best for you.

She only goes out for short walks in the heat, otherwise we wait till dusk and night for her longer outings. We are afraid to crate her due to her history, since she was the puppy mills breeder mama, she was constantly having puppies. Looks like most of the time she wasn't with puppies she was chewing on a crate, we had to have more than half her teeth removed when we rescued her, we tried crate training, but she just chews and pees in it. She is much happier roaming free in the house. She is good for about 4-5 hours before she needs to go out, so we usually just rotate through who comes home during the week. Anyways, back to cars.

Unfortunately, Joy (our puppy) hates her crate and if we put her into the crate during the day she will bark non-stop and pee in her crate. So crate training does not work with her (we crate trained Grace because she would never go in her crate).

After 3 weeks now Joy does go outside a lot as she loves her toilet treats but there are always 1 or 2 times a day she has an accident. Even if we are watching her intently she can go from playing to going to the bathroom in like 1 second! (Grace would run around nervously for at least 10 seconds). Sometimes its only 30 minutes from when she was last outside.

It'd be one thing to do this unemployed but trying to get work done at the same time... The worst was when I was in a phone conference and she peed while going up the carpeted stairs - that took hours to shampoo each of the steps! For now when I need to go into the office for meetings or buy groceries or any of the other things where we have to step out we put Joy in the crate and just have to clean out the crate and bathe her when we get home - yuck.

But she is a super fun puppy and Grace didn't like her at first and now they are friends - which is one of the main reason we got her. Grace is 7 and started to get lazy & bored. Having the puppy around has made our older dog act younger again (which is much more healthy physically and mentally for them).

Pic of Grace (who many of you know since I have taken her to some events) and the new puppy Joy. This breed (Kerry Blue Terrier) are born black and then start changing to their adult color, which can range from asphalt to silver, at about 1 yr of age.

Been a while since I hung out with the group... perhaps its time I came to cars and coffee again this coming weekend (though that does mean either taking the puppy with or going through the crate cleaning and dog bathing ritual when I get home)

IT'S SO FLUFFAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking of bringing Noodles to the C&C, but then I'd probably have to take the 4Runner to fit his crate (I'm a noob and bought a ridiculously oversized one). Not like it matters though, my FR-S is stock to anyone that doesn't own an 86 lol.

Joy has never gone to the bathroom in the car but you know how it goes, if there is any day she would it would be on the way to C&C. She has not ridden in the brz yet, as I am terrified of her peeing in my brz. My beat up impreza is not nice enough to drive to C&C.

Ours, Maude, will go in the car. Doesn't matter if she has peed before or not. She gets nervous and bam, brz or forester will smell wonderful.
