Just for those curious here's a thread showing gains from the HKS tuned by Drift-Office!
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41525 Hopefully this header along with my OFT will demolish the torque curve! Wish the UEL tq curve was out :/ |

OP, I keep seeing you mention that "EL is the more technologically advanced way". While your intentions are in the right place, make no mistake, Subaru didn't make UEL headers because they thought it was "engineered", they did it as a gimmick and it stuck years ago. Their performance models came turbocharged which allowed them to make up for any efficiency loss through boost.
Do not for one second think that it took any crazy amount of engineering to make the HKS or Tomei headers. The HKS header looks like the OEM header with no cat and no flex joints. They didn't do a stepped design, which would have been "proper engineering" for the majority that plan to stay N/A. All these companies do is slightly increase the diameter of the runners, make decent collectors and then if you're lucky, backpurge. Don't get me wrong, both companies make phenomenal parts, especially their internal engine components. However, these are run of the mill pieces that happen to look pretty. You will never feel 1.8hp. It's really not fair to even get into the debate of power of UEL vs EL on our cars because our car doesn't make enough power for UEL to be a hindrance yet. Slap on boost and watch how quick EL leaves UEL in the dust.

Just a question, does Tomei have a warranty on their headers?
